Did you ever have an E type visa before? If not, you will have to go back to America, I'm assuming that's where you're from, and do the consulate interview to get your first visa. Think things through and slow down. |
They actually stopped requiring the interviews - you just have to mail in the application and a check. |

Well I am not caucasian, neither black or korean, but I have been contacted for an interview. First interview, over the phone, I got the job.
I have no experience and what ever other experience I do have are unrelated to the job and not worth mentioning. I only have to my name is being a UK national with a degree and a recent Trinity CertTesol qualification.
I think you would find Korean are not so descrimantory as people here make it out to be. |

| There are advantanges to being asian. If you put forth the effort, Koreans will warm up to you with open hearts. The trust I built looking the way I looked (even travelling through China I was mistaken as Korean) opened tons of doors. While teaching in a university, I had a steady private schedule with professors in their home and offices. Before the uni job, I taught for two years illegally in small companies. I coordinated classes through korean teacher friends, and taught four to six hours a week. Over and over, I got, "I trust you because you look like Korean." It can definitely work in your favor. |

I agree. I never felt denied any opportunities while I was in Korea because I was Asian. There are advantages and disadvantages, it's just what you make of them.
I'm just trying to figure out why my applications are not working. Perhaps it's my resume. Or maybe my picture is bad. Or maybe it's just not the hiring season. Just trying to find out what it is so that I can increase my chances of getting a job. |

There seem to be very few good jobs in Seoul. Plenty of 140 hours/9am-8pm/intensives/2.1 crapwons that are always hiring, but very few decent offers.
OP you might want to look into Gyeonggi, might be 30-45min from Seoul but the contracts seem more reasonable. |

They're still rather discriminatory. When it comes down to it, if two candidates are equally qualified, one white and one not (kyopos sometimes excepted), the white candidate will generally be the one hired.
Also, it bears asking: was this job in Seoul? |

Well it is impossible to mistake me for a chinese, korean, japanese or other race that share similar physical characteristic. (I offer my apologies if I've offended anyone, as I don't mean tobe rude. I am aware of the difference between each race)

Well descrimination is everywhere, there's no yardstick to effectively measure descrimination.
Well that particular one is in Icheon. |
