Hi guys

I'm currently taking a two week break back in the UK following completion of my first 12 month contract and I'm worried that I might have invalidated my single entry visa and I won't be able to get back into the country when I return for my second year.

Because my visa is single entry I was told that I needed a stamp upon leaving, so as I was going though passport control at Incheon airport I told the officer that I would return in two weeks. He said "Ok, fine" and stamped my passport, and I thought that was that. Now I'm looking into it back in the UK (I fly back out to ROK in 2 days) the stamp just says "Departed May 2011" and doesn't mention re-entry anywhere.

However, I have an ARC card that's valid until May 2012. Will this be enough to get back in when I return?

I'm starting to panic.

Re-entry permits are no longer required for registered foreign residents in Korea (you have an ARC) - the law was changed effective Dec. 1, 2010.

Sleep well, worry not and enjoy your flight back.

A mate just went to Japan a few weeks ago with a single entry visa and had no problems getting back in. He took a form his co-teacher gave him to show to immigration if there were any problems but I don't think he had to use it. I could email it to you if you like, but I don't think you'll need it (I think it is just an outline of the new rules)

So I'm E-2. On my 2nd year. Didn't pay for a multi-entry when renewing. I have a regular S on my visa. Going on a vacation for a couple weeks to SE asia. So, I DON'T need to buy a single re-entry visa?

That IS correct. AS long as you have an ARC you do NOT need a re-entry permit.
