People on this forum are so bitchy sometimes. Ladies, put away the handbags and remove the stick from your backside. What the OP said in his/her own slightly crude way, was something most teachers feel or have felt at some point. It's hot, the kids don't want to be there at the end of a long semester and they are probably acting out.
I for one, have been in a similar situation, so I don't mind lending some support in terms of ideas and tips.
Loosen up peeps, it's summer time.

So...just so we are both on the same page...you wouldn't have any problems with a teacher calling you or your children (assuming they were in his class) what the "teacher" here called his students?

I don't know why all of you 'real teachers' are dwelling on the fact that the OP called his kids a-holes. Everyone has felt like this before, and if you claim you haven't, then you're lying. Dealing with 50+ badly-behaved kids 5 days a week during their summer vacation? Must be easy because you are attacking people on here instead of teaching your little darlings.

I love the honesty. Give them a bit of vocabulary, tell them to draw something and label it with their new vocabulary, make them colour it in if need be... having them draw or write stuff on the board is always good, and the ultimate is when the winner of a game 'wins' the opportunity of leading the game next time you play (in hangman, bingo, countdown etc). You no longer have to do anything Laughing

I like to think of that as 'student-centred' rather than lazy

Yes, yes, yes! I love my students, but if I don't give them something easy to do or make, they can be a-holes these days. Everyday, make a poster or something. Just use A4s from the photocopier. Then play a game. No more a-holes. Student centred learning.

Nerds? Its the real world were talking about not high school. Youre basically advocating taking money for a job youre not doing properly and theres nothing much hip or cool about that. Youve discovered that teaching kids is a job where you have quite a lot of autonomy and instead of using this chance to develop useful skills, try to better yourself and give something to the students, you are trying to maximise the opportunities to slack off. As jrwhite82 says if you cant deal with the kids misbehaving, get a different job

mars your comment confirms how much of a loser doushe you really are. Do a poor job, take it easy, "keep it real" (ok, wanksta.)
You like to post on the ESPN message boards so you watch baseketball...does your homie Chris Bosh's words ring a bell? --He (Spoelstra) wants to work, and we just want to chill." lol you'll be out of here soon enough and on to the next "easy" job. I feel bad for the chump that hired you. You sound like a know it all, young, punk kid that needs his head rung and a good dose of maturity.

I'd love to see some of these "professional" teachers show me how they'd do a student-centric approach when your after school/camp class consists of forty five 1st and 2nd grade students who speak almost zero English.

Alone. With no co-teacher.

"Bear, Fish, Dog, Cat. Now colour in these pictures of those animals."

Lesson done. Nightmare over.

Hell I even referred to losers following me around on these forums and you still couldn't resist. congratulations, your application has been approved and you're one step closer to becoming my full time lapdog dog these forums. now roll over sparky and I'll throw you a milk bone

lol

But we're not talking about ability to control classes we're talking about attitude. Someone who was trying to do their job properly would be on here asking how to learn better class room management or ways of dealing with low levels, not low-prep ways to keep the kids quiet doing uselss tasks all lesson.

I wonder sometimes about people. Either help or don't post. Why the negativity?

Go to our games page. tons of stuff. http://bit.ly/puVie7
BAAM ppt games are a big fav of teachers. http://bit.ly/pkbq0j

All pages now public.

I used to have a "Tired Teachers" thread. All teachers get tired - that's the truth.

All the best games like this. Just made one last night you might try - Guessing game. Find it on my post here.

Good luck.

Did you even read what the OP wrote ddeubel?

I am all for helping someone but that person needs to have the attitude and demeanor that says he is willing to try and work.

Now, re-read the OP and tell me where you see someone wanting to teach and looking for actual advice...

Where does it say a Teacher can call his students little aholes and wants them to shut up so he can do nothing.

Seriously, the support the OP got from some posters is hardly surprising. This IS Daves afterall.
