Hi Everyone,

My SAT prep hagwon told me that many Korean parents use special forums (to talk about SAT prep, etc.). Do you know of any that exist?

OP, if you think Korean parents care about your opinions then you are sadly mistaken. We are nothing in their eyes. You may meet some nice people but no one will take you seriously, as an "educator", because you are a foreigner.

There is at least one site where "recruiters" seem to find schools looking for teachers. I believe all they do is translate the information and act like an agent, when they are really just reading the ad and hoping to cut a deal and make some money in between. You can see multiple recruiters advertising the same jobs, sometimes with different pay rates, so it's pretty obvious.

You'll need to be able to read and write Hangul to understand what is going on.

It's OT but I like to pick up on that.

Across many forums I've seen people apostrophize the plural-s. I do not know one language in which this is correct. Also it's a complication, not a simplification, because one has to add the apostrophe. Is there a name for this habit (people I've observed using it always do it)?

I'm just curious because it makes my skin crawl each time I see it happen (I'm not a native speaker but even in my language I see people do that).

Side question; is apostrophe-s only used with "is" or are there other examples?

I wish people would stop spreading junk like this. I'm sorry that you are in a position where no one takes you seriously. Perhaps upgrade your qualifications/find a different place of work/working harder at your job?

I'm sure I've seen it used with has, as in: She's been here for two years.

If you aren't being taken seriously by Korean parents, it's most likely because your teaching ability and influence on education enhancement is lacking. There are some people who are taken seriously.
