I bought a sweet new carbon mtb and have been getting huge airs off steps and stages. However I got a tip from a Korean Bike Shop owner that the place to go to rage the MTB trails is:
--Jisan Forest Resort---
http://www.jisanresort.co.kr/eng/intro02_01.html

has anyone gone there and stayed overnight?- the mtber told me it was 20,000 won a night which seems too cheap- I checked the web page and condos are like 100,000 for a night. I don't like sleeping Korean style on the floor either which seems to be the way minbaks often are- 20,000 won.

I checked this forum:
http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=511874
then joined the 'filthy freeriders' group but did not hear back from the moderators so I can not see the forum or post there.

Also, did anyone try to do some trail riding in or around Sokcho? Or is it reckless and endangering because all the nice trails are filled with hikers- maybe all the trails are too rocky to ride as well? I was thinking of doing some riding in Jisan and then going on to Sokcho since I have never seen it and as we all know Korea has the most beautiful mountains in the world no matter which of the distinct four seasons you are in when you visit them. Maybe I will just stop by there and foot hike it instead.

I can't comment on Jisan Forest Resort or Sokcho, but there are some pretty good XC trails in Gangwondo and Gyeongido. In Gangwon-do the trails in Maewol-ri total to 66km of continuous double track and fire access roads. Nothing too technical, but some great climbing sections and wicked descents. Yangpyeong in Gyeongi is similar, though more populated. Great trails, but more traffic. Adjosshis on very expensive, very clean bikes.

If you're ever in or around Wonju, PM me. If you're not to frightened to bang up your pretty carbon frame a bit, there are some good trails to be ridden here.
