Most of the Soviet Koreans in the past worked for the Soviet Air Force and Land Force for decades. And Soviet Ukraine had been a place for well-educated non-Russian minorities who wanted to pursue in military-related careers. Hence the huge Korean communities in Ukraine.

Of countries Koreans voluntarily moved to in recent years, the United States is far and away the #1 choice. This makes sense as the U.S. has the most powerful economy and is by far the richest country on earth. America has the most opportunities for the smartest, most ambitious people. There is no contest. That's why educated people from all over the world want to even leave their way of life and their family and friends to relocate to come here. As long as you are relatively intelligent and a go-getter, there is a lot of money to be made in this land of opportunity.

Then why is Korea flooded with economic refugees from the US ("english teachers")
