Yeah I would, too. Two very good friends are leaving soon (met both by way of these gatherings) so I'm thinking it might be time to reboot it. There hasn't been one in ages.

I've been to a few and met some good people. Some freaky people, but some good people too.

Most of the time, the conversations are about general stuff and life in Korea. Pretty much what you might find in any 'foreign gathering'.

I treat this forum like when I listen to radio. You keep hearing the same D.J. and you eventually start to get an 'idea' of what he or she looks like.

So, I was hanging out with my friend and shooting the s***. He started bringing up a subject that I had read on Dave's a couple a days previous. It was funny because he used the exact same phrases that were in his post. I called him out on it and asked if he had been on Dave's. He was, but it got kind of awkward when I was obligated to give up my screen name. They are sacred masks of anonymity.

It was interesting to put flesh and blood to a voice.

Edit: A post was made for my next comment.

That happened to me also. A coworker figured out my handle name on Dave's just based on what I was saying in a conversation about a particular topic and what they had read here. Some people are really quick to make the connection.

i don't think i would have a problem giving up my handle as almost every single experience on any other forum has been positive for me

i actually like having that connection most don't have w/a person they met in person, i could see how it would differ since Dave's is a more serious site about ones job too so i could see people's reservation since w/anonymity affords some people to act in their true nature or their online persona freely

I'm kind of easy to figure out as I use my name as my user name.

How about a hint Zyzyfer?

I met two posters in 2005 in Korea...and was LUCKY enough to date a cool russian poster in China.

She was not nerdy gal, but very beautful and very graceful with a thick and lushious... accent. Miss her much Crying or Very sad

A certain fellow had a couple of family-friendly parties at his home last year for members of the AFEK crowd. I was one of the very few unmarried, F visaless souls there.
