I worked for SMOE from Feb 09-10 and will be returning for the fall intake this year. Do I have to attend orientation again? The person at SMOE who I'm e-mailing with says yes, but I know other people who've been told they don't have to...
Is there any way to get out of it? Has anyone else been forced to attend twice? |

I had to do it twice. I attended that prison camp orientation outside the city at the Hyudai Learning Center in 2008 and worked for SMOE for two years. Then, I went home for a year to get married and tie up some loose ends and when I came back I was forced to attend the new orientation in Hyewha.
It isn't as bad as the orientation at the Hyudai Learning Center but it is ten days jam packed with lectures, language lessons, the medical check, and other activities. There is also a 12 o'clock curfew (if you're late they lock you out). On the bright side, it's in Hyewha so you can at least go out for a few beers and a pizza after classes.
Enjoy! |
