I feel really bad about this but I accepted an offer of employment from a public school in Korea, and I am so excited about it but a personal situation might keep me from going.

I was just recently offered the employment; haven't even sent paperwork to the recruiter yet. So, if I tell them that unfortunately I have to turn down the job after I've already accepted an employment offer, would this hurt my chances of working there in the future? Because I know they ask you on the application if you've ever applied before. And do you think my recruiter would be unwilling to work with me again in the future? Please let me know your opinions on this, I would really appreciate it.

No it won't be a problem, even less if you haven't initiated the visa process. Just tell them that something has come up in your life (like a family illness) and you're sorry but you have to rescind your offer. They'll appreciate it more than just silence on your behalf.

There are hundreds of recruiters out there. This one probably won't work with you again but that's no problem for you. When you're job hunting, you shouldn't be using only one recruiter anyway.

Sure he or she will be upset at you. They may even call you to insult you. (Seriously, it happens.) But the ironic part is that if someone else applied to that recruiter or school, even after you had accepted the job, maybe even after they started the visa application process, if the new applicant was more to their liking, they'd likely drop you as well. So don't feel bad about it.
