I�m just curious if anyone has any Salary man friends/boyfriends. Have you ever talked to them about the pay girl culture? What do they have to say about it?

And even Korean men in Korea who just KNOW about the practice. What do they know about it? What do they think about it?

Also foreign men, what is their take on it? I once met a foreigner (he wasn't a salary man) who said he went to a pay girl because he needed to try everything once. I wanted to ask him more about his experience but it was a dinner party so it wasn�t appropriate timing.

When I refer to paygirl culture for salary men I'm talking about the team building practice some owners do in where they treat their employees to a company dinner and then after drinking and dinner the men are treated to pay girls. It doesn't happen after every company dinner, but I guess only when the owner is in the mood.

In Japan it's a work thing.

After work all the men get drunk with each other or with clients and 'have a good time', have a good time would vary from person to person. Some would have their ego massaged and have a pretty girl laugh at their terrible jokes, some had a different kind of massage.

When I worked in Japan it was simply part of the culture, I knew my bosses wives knew about it, they just didn't care because it's a work thing.

In Korea I work in a completely different culture so I wouldn't know

echoing the point above:

In japan you have three levels of er, 'pay girls' (excluding soaps and the like).

1. Hostess bars.
2. Snack bars.
3. ["I forget the name"] bars.

hostess bars are quite high class establishments. Sex isnt really on the cards. You spend a crap load of money, get entertained (which means chat, flirting, a bit of karaoke, and lots and lots of beer refills). Of course you CAN get laid with a hostess but its not going to happen at the club.

This is where compensation dating comes in. You get the hostesses (fifth phone) number, and go out together privately. if you spend an awful lot of money, you have a chance of getting in her pants, otherwise its pretty much a very expensive date. Its a situation entirely at the discretion of the hostess.

Snacks on the other hand are a bit closer to what youll get in korea i think. Theres a bit more er, skinship, but again this is pretty much dependant on how much you spend... Spend a lot of money and you likely get offered up not just a bit of a feel but also some backroom shenanigans with one of the girls (maybe former hostesses who have gotten a bit on in years, or more grim, the mama sans daughters - true [second hand] story that one).

Finally the one i cant remember the name of. On the surface this looks like a hostess bar. The girls are young, theyre wearing teh same svelt evening gowns, the place is probably pretty expensive looking, but unlike a hostess bar, its pretty much anything goes. These are often out of bounds to gaijin but youll find them in the snack district of any major city. Theyre usually filled with girls considered too old or not hot enough to be hostesses. Theyre INCREDIBLY skeezy.

I just want it known for the record that this information comes not from personal experience of these places, but from japanese friends who work in them. Of course they all claim theyre working at a hostess club and not snacks, but well you can work it out... :p

Personally, Im pure as the driven snow and never once had the dubious pleasure of my principal inviting me to the third party at the soapland/hostess bar.

Basically, hostess bars: very very safe. Fun for all the family. Girls love them too (host bars). Its just a flirty night of fun.

Snack bars: pretty skeezy, shanigans can happen, but most people who just pop in there on a night out will likely only get to cop a feel.

Skeeze clubs: Basically a brothel masquerading as a hostess bar.

I'm really just curious about the Korean practice. My boyfriend (Korean salary man) has told me a lot about it but I wanted to hear the opinions and experiences more than one person.

He said paygirls in general also come in levels. There are the girls that you can just date, they need to be intelligent because theyre basically hired for conversation and they make a lot of money.

There are the girls that work at those feed the guy places; where some touching is possible.

And then there are the massage parlor; brothel chicks who are the lowest. (This is all according to my boyfriend)

No one else has any knowledge of the salaryman-paygirl culture in Korea?
