|
|
Perhaps this is a dumb question, so please be gentle. My contract finishes this month, and I will be transferring my visa to another job, which will start either directly after that, or a week or so later. I may leave the country on a trip, I may not, still haven't decided. In either case, my visa will be transferred at the end, so there will be no time when I am visa-less.
Anyways, anybody know if it is possible to apply for pension before my visa transfer with a refundable one-way ticket that I won't actually be using? When the transfer application goes through will that send up some red flags and screw up my new visa or the pension application? Do you think I am a law-breaking scoundrel for even considering it? |

Unless your visa is terminated (or you are old enough to retire) you cannot collect your pension.
If you TRANSFER to a new job you cannot get a refund.
If you cancel your visa (depart and hand in your ARC) or if your visa expires you can get a refund and apply for a new visa for a new job.

Yes, because as far as they know until you submit e7 paperwork is that you are gone for good. It's not common to change to e7. Also, the school has to report you working for them to the pension office. I don't think they do that until you actually arrive and start working. |

You have to leave for at least one month to collect your pension. When you hand in your arc card, immigration notifies the NPS that you have left. You must show them a one way ticket. If you purchase a return ticket, then you must apply from out of the country. I left a month in between contracts and collected my pension. You can come back on a tourist visa and wait to get your e-2 visa until you have received your pension. |
