Please forgive me if there is a post about this, the search function is broken for me. If there is already a topic on this and someone can direct me to it, I would be greatly appreciate it.

I am interested in sending 3-4 Suitcase size pieces of luggage to the U.S.
I don't care how quickly it gets there. I'm more concerned with reliability and price.

Does anyone have experience with this? Any help in the right direction would be fantastic.

Pack your stuff into some #5 boxes and sent it home.
Sell the suitcases.

The cost of shipping the suitcases (too big for the post) will be far in excess (many hundreds of dollars) of the cost of their replacement.

Sorry, what are #5 boxes, and what company would you use to send them?

Next to the large post office in Myungdong are a bunch of shops that cater to people who need to mail off stuff. You know how all those ajosshis collect cardboard? Well, some of the better pieces are sold to these shipping companies to wrap packages for you.

I took a large framed painting to the post office to figure out how to ship it. One of these guys approached me on the street and offered to package everything up for me. On the second floor of the building next door, there are a few of these little shops that do this. I have to say that he did an excellent job, and I would not have had the patience to wrap my package as well as this guy. I think he charged me somewhere between 15,000-20,000 for the packing job, which was quite cheap given it was triple boxed with styrofoam padding. Then he filled out the customs forms for me in Korean and since I was leaving Korea, he used his shop as a return address and gave me his business card in case there was any trouble. Afterwards he walked it over to a back room of the post office (so I wouldn't have to wait in line) and handed it over to a postal worker, who then charged me postage.
