there's a "manhattan" accent?????
or are you referring to some subset like JAP talk, the NY equivalent of California valley girl talk. |
1. No. I liked that he was blond with blue eyes, a swimmer's build, and 6'3". That and the Thomas Pink shirt that he was wearing when we met.
2. There's the New Yawk accent, then there's the Manhattan accent. Being Jewish or not has nothing to do with it. This is the second racist thing you've said this thread. I'd quit if I were you. |

those things are "racist"??????
you people are funny. Explain the Manhattan accent to me though. Every time I've been there, it's impossible to pidgeonhole because many Manhattanites aren't native NY rkers. I hear more of a neutral accent, though it depends on where the person is originally from. |

Yes, you insulted most Englishmen and then used the derogatory term JAP.
As for the Manhattan accent, it's a more neutral New York accent. It's a New York accent that would work on a news program. Is that so difficult to comprehend? |

I can also flatter Englishmen on other (non looks related) matters . (far more important matters in the scheme of things).
What would that make me then?
JAP's exist. (as do CA valley girls). I didn't call anyone that name. And if I did, and it fit (like many English and looks) that's not racism.
I understand the concept of the accent you speak of. I simply haven't encountered it that much, since my NY visits were of a business nature and the people I'd visit mostly weren't born and raised in NYC. |

You mean like saying Black guys can jump high and have natural rhythm, that kind of thing?
If you really want to behave like a responsible citizen, to be on the safe side, avoid all racial or national stereotyping, it's, at best, cliched and out of date and potentially offensive. Especially avoid negative physical stereotyping, which just makes you look ignorant and may even have sinister overtones. Like those pictures of typical Jewish faces they produced in nazi Germany before the second world war. |

first of all, who/what looks good is my personal opinion which I have a right to. So stuff your "isms" where the sun doesn't shine. Maybe the man/lady doth protest too much which means my personal opinion is somewhat widely held.

when was the last time you had an Englishwoman finish anywhere even in the semifinals of a beauty contest?
Prize the very very few lookers per capita you have, take comfort in some terrific national qualities that outweigh the shallowness of looks and take comfort you're not Scottish (you're that concerned about looks)
rhythm is something gained by environment.
but jumping higher. Here I think political correctness is suppressing a basic truth. Many black males have more "fast twitch" muscles" than Caucasian males. If you want to jump high, you need those muscles.
but this is suppressed because if you allow such a thing to be true, then you open the doors for the possibility of an IQ differential/etc, which is something completely taboo (and I personally don't believe in btw)
I do believe black guys are faster and jump higher, comparatively speaking. The evidence is so overwhelming, they can try suppressing that all they want |

Ha, ha priceless, beauty contests! Is this still the 1970s or something? I suppose you still watch them too, otherwise you wouldn't know a fact like that. Of course you're entitled to your opinion and you can voice it too as long as it doesn't cross certain boundaries. I was just giving you a bit of advice about how to avoid being offensive to people that's all. If that doesn't bother you then fair enough. |

I truly enjoy "offending" people who are always on the lookout against being "offended".
when confronted with such, I will purposefully be as "offensive" as I can get, just to get under (usually HER) skin.
beauty contests were more fun when they were simply about beauty. No one really took it very seriously but it was "fun" before some harpy shrews screwed it up. . Then they decided it was all too "sexist" and screwed up the entire thing with other attributes that are supposed to be just as important (in a "beauty" contest.. duh!)
I spent time in Latin America where such things are a national pasttime. The coolest thing about it is they also had male beauty contests, and for a national contest..like Mr. Venezuela for e.g. every single hot female celebrity, actress etc would come for this extravaganza and let their estrogen run wild along with the other gals, hooting and hollering at the male beefcakes. (the Ms. Venezuela contest was always the top rated TV show for the year by a country mile. The Mr. Venezuela contest also did quite well)
(and the females watched it just as eagerly, if not more so. the Ms. contest)
It was harmless fun.
this is what happens when you start confusing the issue:

I say let the testosterone/estrogen run wild:

It may be true sometimes, but that doesn't mean that the term isn't offensive. There are plenty of other terms that get far more press as being racist, and I'm sure that sometimes they are even true, but they are WRONG to say.
I'm not offended. You said something ignorant and I pointed out that it wasn't a good idea. |

good link. It shows, as I thought, that it was the jews themselves, males obviously, that invented and have run with the concept. That some people find it "offensive" isn't surprising. They always find something to become offended by. screw them.
actually, since I don't know if Jap's have a particular accent/speech pattern, what I was referring to was more along the lines of the old Mike Myers NY Jewish woman Coffee Clatch sketch on SNL
personally, I think Japs tend to reside on the Upper East Side, correct? I'm more into the artsy cool Upper West Side gals. |

Screw them?! The women didn't invent the term. Why should they be punished by letting people call them that? Also, you were using the term incorrectly! You're talking about the old Jewish Mother stereotype. Most Jewish people live on the UWS. The UES was traditionally WASP territory, though that is changing now. Those artsy, cool, UWS gals are the ones you are calling JAPS!
You're clueless. I'm going to bow out of this conversation, because you're just yourself digging a deep hole and I don't want to fall in.
Edit for typo.
