Call the cops!!

If it's not some domestic thing, you don't know why she's screaming!!

excellent advice.

it's an extremely difficult situation to be in - but it's best if we keep a low-profile, in every single facet of our lives here.

don't screw yourself, dude. call the cops, and take solace in the fact that you did the best that could be expected of you.

my friend is visiting right now and he's a big guy, much bigger than me and I was having to hold him back and explain to him that if we open that door and fight we're both screwed no matter what the hell happened. they were literally right outside my door beating her. she was screaming for help. her sandal was there but then they came back and retrieved it. whole thing is on CCTV though.

called my kgirl and she said to not call the cops and that they'll do nothing because we don't know where they live (but I know where they live)

my friend is still talking about how we should have opened that door and defended that girl. damn I feel bad tonight for once Sad

A similar situation happened to me a couple years ago--

A girl had tried to kill herself in the apt across the hall from me, and her friend found her and was screaming like crazy in the hall.
This was at about 6am; luckily myself and another guy down the hall came out to see what was going on.
He was Korean and could understand what she was screaming much better than I could.
The girl had slashed her wrists, and there was blood everywhere.
I used paper towels to try to stop the bleeding while the guy called an ambulance.

One of the scariest moments of my life!!

Interesting note: The next day the girl, her friend, and another guy came to my door to thank me and apologize for "causing trouble"
What happened was the girl heard that her brother had just been killed in a motorcycle accident, and freaked out.
And there she was, with bandages on her wrists apologizing to me!!
It was all I could do not to cry right there.

Moral of the story is: we are all human beings, and you just never know when someone may genuinely need help.

Now that I've read other posts I see it was a domestic thing.

I know it's over now, but calling the cops is the best thing to do in such a situation.

Sure, many will say the cops won't do anything--maybe they won't, maybe they will. That is out of your control. What is in your control is to at least try-as isisaredead wrote-it's the best you can do.

Don't feel too bad about not going out there and defending her yourself.
You are absolutely right--YOU WOULD BE TOTALLY SCREWED!!
It's sickening--you(or your friend) want to help and do the right thing, but here you just can't in many cases.

just open the door and angrily yell at them to the shut up and then close the door back, you'd be surprised at how effective that is at getting people to take it in inside.

It's a sad reality of the world we live in where people can't intervene in domestic issues for fear of getting in trouble.

I don't know what i'd personally do in that situation. If you get involved you could get in big trouble, and the person getting battered may even be angry with you and attack you (heard many stories about this).

If you don't get involved, you basically are letting someone get beat without lifting a finger. By the time the cops come the victim could have suffered serious injury or worse, be already dead.

I think the best course is to:
1) call the cops
2) come out of your apartment and start banging on people's doors, getting people to come out. If you can get a crowd there, asking the beater WTF he's doing, I think he'd be less likely to continue battering someone if there were people watching.

otherwise if you're really brave, put yourself in harms way by getting in between them and taking the blows (but not fighting back). I doubt you'd get in trouble for that.

I have a Korean girl friend who found out her boyfriend was cheating on her when she checked his phone message as he was drunk and sleeping, she confronted him and he started to choke her out, she got a few screams out but none of her neighbors (she lived in a one room) did anything, just as she was about to pass out she managed to call the police and it scared him enough to stop choking her.

You should have called the police; just to bring them back to reality.

Imagine if she hadn't been able to reach her phone.

Strip naked and run the halls screaming.

Distraction is her only hope!

You can get involved without getting into a fight. Open to door and tell them to keep the f'ing noise down or you'll call the police
