my friend is here from home and he wants to hit up some museums.

it's pissing rain outside so this makes perfect sense.

Anyone have any good museums in Seoul or Busan?

I've heard the anti-Japanese one is good, and there's a hipster museum in Hongdae with the art popping out at you or something...?

My personal favorite is the Korean Traditional Alcohol Museum. Can't remember where it's at, unfortunately, for reasons that will soon become clear.

So, you enter this museum, and it's free of charge, and you get to look around and see all the equipment used to make different types of Korean booze through the years. Interesting, I suppose. However, then you go down to the basement, which is where this place earns its stripes. There is an assortment of roughly 30-40 different types of alcohol that you can sample (as much as you want) for the princely sum of 1000 won. I went with a few coworkers last year and we got hammered inside an hour and a half. For, once again, 1000 won.

The downside is that it's about an hour from Seoul. But well worth the trip.

The National Museum of Korea and the Folk Museum are both worth visiting plus they both have very nice gift shops. The National Museum of Korea has a facebook page so you can keep up to date with exhibits and events.
