|
|
I'm moving back to Korea in a couple of weeks, and this time I am taking the housing allowance and am going to find my own apartment.
Any suggestions how I should take my key money over? I have a Korean bank account, but not all the details for it, so a simple bank transfer is not so simple.
Travelers cheques? cash (I really don't like this option)? bank drafts? I will deposit it as soon as I arrive, and the amount is low enough not be be declared at customs.
Thanks! |

I don''t trust myself not to loose a wad of cash, and I can put some travelers cheques or bank drafts in my passport holder with it still being able to close. Just wondering what other ppl. have done. |

I understand where you are coming from. I recently found several hundred dollars under some papers on my messy desk. I really need to be more careful with my money.
That said, I think cash is the way to go. If you are concerned about losing it, then buy a neck purse (about $10-$20) with a zippered compartment. It's virtually impossible to lose or have a pickpocket take it. |

Do a wire transfer. Tell your bank you're not sure of the account info but that you'll contact them when you can. They'll probably want something in writing before you go, but then give them the info once you're here and can double check it. |

Before leaving home put the money in your mom's account.
Arrive in KOrea, and open an account in your home countries currency.
Have your Mom wire the money into that account.
Then convert from that account to your KRW account when you need the money.
==
If the US doesn't fix it's debt think, the KRW is going to sink like a brick. |

Thanks for the ideas.
I'm going to double check my bank card works internationally and go that way, or keep cash on my body.
Who's yr daddy?- I've been living away from home for so long I dont really want to ask my mom to help, but I see how that would be a good option for some ppl.
madoka- I just found 20,000 yen in an old backpack last week..... When I clean up I really clean up! ^^
once again, thanks! |
