Hi Everyone,
Can you recommend some cheap eats in Hongdae?
(I'm registering as a host for Couch Surfers, and want to make some good recommendations). |

Pasta Buono is an excellent sitdown restaurant on the strip. Entrees are around $7-8 and soda is free. Food quality is good.
Various Kebab places are your best bet for cheap eats on the go. Go to the stores; I've yet to have a really good truck kebab.
There are both BK and taco bell in Hongdae. they're cheap and you know what you're getting.
Oissi (pronounced oh ee she) is some reasonable priced sushi on the main hongdae strip, although not really "cheap eats", its cheaper than most sushi I've seen.
That's all I can really think of at the moment. Hongdae doesn't really strike me as a place to eat cheaply. |

Seriously, why did he even bother posting ?
There is a really cheap Chinese jajangmyeon (black sauce noodle)
) place on the main street leading up to the uni.
It's to the right of Giordanos, down a staircase. Can't remember the name, but there restaurant sign has a little cartoon Chinese guy on it.
A bowl costs 1,800 won! Tastes fine to me, but as you would expect for that price they don't go heavy on the meat. (There's other stuff on the menu but I've only tried the noodles.)
Maybe only recommend it if the couchsufers your hosting are kinda broke. |

A bit pointless this thread, Hongdae, actually Korea in general, is awash with cheap eateries. It would be harder to make a list of expensive eateries.
In addition, do couch surfers actually come to Korea? |

Yes, a lot of people come from abroad to couch surf in Korea. Plus, a lot of folks seem to use couch surfing as a way to visit Seoul cheaply from other parts of Korea.
For me the OP was of interest as I'm currently in saving mode and would like to try hear recommendations for some cheap but good restaurants in this neighborhood.
Still hoping someone knows that grilled fish place. |

Grilled fish place directions: go out of Hongik station exit (the one directly in front of KFC), do a u-turn and walk straight about 3-4 minutes. Turn right on a small side street (maybe it is the 2nd or 3rd cross street??) and you will see the grilled fish place on the right (next door to a little Spanish restaurant).
Can't miss it - the guy will be grilling the fish out front in a huge grill thing built into the wall................... |
