Here's a long article about getting rid of mold in your apartment.
Quote: |
A rising thermometer brings with it a corresponding onslaught of television commercials hawking the gifts of summer: ice cold beer, ice cream and, to the chagrin of many, mold removal products.
Because if its as wet and muggy as it has been this summer, mold is no laughing matter. The World Health Organization in 2009 issued guidelines stating that molds cause diverse health issues including respiratory problems like asthma.
And with the unusually wet summer in Korea this year, coping with humidity has become a critical daily routine because high humidity and moisture offer the perfect conditions for mold growth.
Mold can be easily wiped out with dedicated removal products in the beginning, but if it is not removed in the early stages, black mold can quickly spread to every nook and cranny of your home.
And then, its a disaster: mold can grow behind wallpaper, inside window frames and on the back of furniture, making it hard to detect.
Mold is a type of fungi that lives off of nutrients and oxygen, and it smells and spoils food. But the most dangerous thing about mold is its spores floating in the air, spreading the menace anywhere, leaving no place safe.
When these invisible spores are inhaled by humans, they grow inside lungs and cause asthma, hay fever and even pneumonia, in the worst case scenario. Dust mites, which often cause skin diseases, feeds on mold.
To control mold during the summer season, both the mold and spores in the air should be removed simultaneously.

I've been meaning to clear out the mold which seems to be growing on the INSIDE of my air con unit. On the INSIDE! Grr... Anyways, thanks for posting this... you've reminded me I'm breathing nasty moldy air spores!
Hoping soap and water will do the trick...
If anyone finds a good cleaning product to kill the mold, post pics. |

Probably not too helpful in most places, but I sprayed a 1/2 bleach, 1/2 water mix all over my bathroom. Most the mould disappeared within a few minutes, even before wiping or washing it off. Keep your eyes and mouth covered if doing this. It doesn't get all of the mould that's grown in the white sealant used in bathrooms though. |
