Well, when the internet installation technician came here he only connected my PC. It worked fine. A couple of weeks later my wife bought a netbook, so we then bought a router and installed it to the output of the internet connection box (then connected both computers to the outputs on the routher box).
We then installed the router using the provided installation CD (we installed the CD installation program on both computers). Since then we have had nothing but problems.............. |

Try setting up your system like this...

That's not a good idea. There is absolutely no reason to be running the internet through the desktop before putting it out to the router at all.
The OP needs to actually give us the information about his system if he wants help with it. |

I asked for the specific model number of the router. The names are not always clear and could cover several different routers. Once I can get that info I'll get you to log into it and check some different settings when I get a look and tell you specifically what to check and where. |

Log in to your router following the link above, and look for a "QoS" menu on the left. Might be called "QoS Profiles"
Open that up if you have it and take a screenshot for us.
To do so when you have the window open,
press the "Print screen" button on your keyboard
Open up ms paint
and paste the screenshot and save the image
upload that somewhere so we can have a look at it.
It's possible running the setup CD did something to this.
For future reference it's generally completely unnecessary to run the setup CD for a home router.
Home routers are generally just plug and play and with most ISPs require absolutely no setup beyond plugging them in for basic use. About the only thing you'd want to do is set a password for the wireless and its better to do that manually. |
