This might be a stupid question but ....
I'm bringing some food with me over to Korea, all sealed goods, gravy granules,custard powder,honey, oats, golden syrup, lots of herbs, jelly.
Do I need to go through the something to declare area at customs with these or can i walk through the nothing to declare one?
Don't want any hassle and can't afford a fine so if ye could help it's be appreciated. |

Processed food = "nothing to declare". We do it all the time and I have asked many times and the customs officer always gives me the same answer.
UNPROCESSED foods (meats, fruits, veggies, seeds (for growing), cheeses) DO need to be declared and checked before they are legally allowed into Korea. Unprocessed (uncooked) meats, fresh fruits, veggies and plants are usually taken and destroyed.

Oats as in the whole grain = yes.
Oats as in the rolled oats for cooking = no.

Unprocessed is basically straight from the ground not modified in any way. Any modification is considered processed. |

I still find the customs very confusing. During my flight they specifically told me that sausages are illegal to bring into Korea. I always considered sausages as processed meat. Also in the custom declaration form I couldn't find anything about cheese, but it might be under one of the "livestock product" categories.
An other important question is, what will happen if you are caught with meat or cheese (for own consumption) at the airport? Will they confiscate it, or treat it like a serious crime? |

If you are caught with it UNDECLARED at a minimum you can expect that it will be confiscated and a summary fine may be levied.
Worst case, unlikely though it may be, you can be charged with smuggling..
