Okay it looks like I might be going to Korea, so I'm getting excited (and nervous). I'm wondering what exactly the medical check will involve? I know there must be a million posts here about it but I can find them and when I do a search I just get a blank white page. Please help.
I found a blog post that says it's just this:
"Height/weight
Blood pressure
Eye sight
Hearing
Chest X-rays ( to ensure that you do not have any bronchial infections)
A dental check-up (very brief, and seemingly irrelevant)
Blood test
Urine test (the blood and urine tests are needed to check for HIV, any illegal drug use, hepatitis, TB, syphilis and any other STD."
Is that still accurate? Will I have to undergo some embarrassing gynaecological exam? Also when I got a medical check in France they asked about my family health history. Do they do that in Korea too?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure they don't check for any STDs besides the ones you listed. |

Did mine two days ago. No dental or hearing test. Everything else, yes.
They ask you a few obvious "no" questions afterwards as well (do you do drugs, do you have mental illness, any diseases, etc). The blood test was really easy, just a quick *beep* on the ulnar artery/elbow vein. I don't enjoy needles at all but it was super fast and didn't hurt at all barely. That was what I was most nervous about, but my fears turned out to be ill-founded. They check for HIV and urine-borne STDs. That's it.
It's pretty fast and easy. |

I read that there is a new, stricter test to test for illegal drugs (i.e marijuana)
Was this still a urine test? blood test? etc.? |

I thought the only STDs they test for are HIV/AIDS. Unless they've added more to the list recently... |

Thank you for your replies. I'm glad to hear that; the medical check seems pretty simple. |
