I recieved a picture of the family, contract, and after the contract, I recieved this email about the financial mandates and requirements about the work permit and visa. Is this a scam?
Note that the # 2 requirement is not a payment.
The government have mandated that all domestic employees coming to UK must show that they have at least not less than 800(Eight Hundred Great British Pounds)/ US$1,300(One Thousand Three Hundred United States Dollars) already in UK to support themselves before receiving their first salary from their respective employers. This is to avoid becoming stranded which normally results in engagement in crime as have witnessed in the past by immigrants.
Due to falsification of bank statement by domestic employees the government now insist that before you get your work permit your next of kin, relation or friend must deposit at least 800(Eight Hundred Great British Pounds)/ US$1,300(One Thousand Three Hundred United States Dollars) in your own name as the receiver of the amount in England.
The address to be used as the receivers address should be your proposed residential address while in England and you have to use your employers address 93 Stonemere Drive Radcliffe Manchester M26 1QY since you will first arrive at his home.
Visit any western union money transfer or money gram shop or bank with your relation or friend and transfer the money to your name as the receiver in UK.
After that scan the documents listed above for verification and endorsement process.
I hope to receive all these documents as soon as possible to enable your documents to be ready in time.
It only takes 14 working day for your work permit to be ready and after which you shall be called upon by the British Consulate in your location for a brief interview and issuance of your visa.
Please acknowledge the receipt of this message and it content.

While I can't speak for every job out there, and I'm not an "Englander", being from Scotland, but whatever job you're applying for sounds like a scam.
I've heard about these jobs a few times, people I know applied and eventually it worked out to be some kind of con.
Ultimately, if any family in England wanted to find someone to teach English to their kids, they could put up a poster on the nearest wall and get hundreds of application. Being as it's England...people speak English.
That's not to say your job possibility, whatever it is, if that's what it is, isn't real. Just, from the sounds of your post, it's a very typical scam looking for someone to teach English to the kids of an immigrant family to England.
Anyway, tread carefully. These scams are common. |

Scam...
Ask them to direct you to a government website where the relevant legislation is explained.
Most countries make you include a bank draft with your visa application (from your home country) to prove that you have the money to be able to support yourself. They never ask you to prove you have money in one of their country's banks...
This is a scam, do not send you money. |

Smells like a scam just by looking at the grammar and the verbose wording used to sound official. |

Yeah, don't trust it at all. I'm from England (although I'm not sure if that helps as it means I'll never be applying for a visa). If you had to do something like that, I imagine it would be through the British consulate for THEM to check your funds. It would never be any kind of school. |

I'm a British citizen. As such, I feel that I can offer verification of your financial ability to pay your way when you arrive in the UK. To do so, I'll PM you my bank details. If you'd be ever so kind as so to deposit 800 pounds in my account then I can get on with verifying your finances*.
*and not spending it all on lavish nights out in Manchester at all.
What part of your first post sounds legit to you OP? You must be trolling. |

I got something similar when I was going through the process. The man said he found my contact information off of my Korean ESL profile. I thought it was a bit strange. My profile page is in all Korean. He said he was from Italy, and that he was living in England. He also said he was an engineer, at a railroad company. He sent me pictures of his family. I e-mailed my Teach ESL contact person and asked him about it and he said it must be a scam. I wrote the man and told him that I was working through an agency and that we needed to work through them since they are the ones who put up the profile. He didn't get back to me. In cases like these, I am politely skeptical. But on the other hand, if I was a completely skeptical, I wouldn't be in Korea right now. I guess they target us because they know we will give the benefit of the doubt. Did we not all respond to some random ad or apply on some random website? Going to Korea, making around $2,000 a month and having your place provided for is real as I am here right now using the fastest internet I have ever had. It is so fast, it is like I never even left home because I skype with my family all the time. I didn't really believe it until I picked up my VISA. And I was still in shock when I was in the air, flying here. I would say I am still in shock, right now. So I am glad I took that leap of faith. So there are some opportunities that are for real, but not this England thing. |
