Has anyone here gone to DC to get their FBI CRC apostilled in person? I'm trying to find information on what the wait time is like and how early I'll need to get there. I know that the office is only open from 7am-11, and it's going to take several hours for me to drive there. I spoke to a woman who said there's usually a long line. I'd hate to show up at 8am only to find that i'm too late and will have to wait until the next day. |

I can answer that question. If I were you, I would show up at 6:20 a.m. Take a number at the door. Have a pen and fill out the form that is found just before the windows. The form can be found opposite where people are sitting in the middle. I am not sure how long it would take you. I had to get mine retrieved. That took me 2 hours. They don't have to find yours. Since they only need to apostille yours, yours should not take more than 30 minutes, if I had to guess. Don't try calling. It's pointless. Just go. Just show up early like I said, so you can get out of there quickly. If you show up at 6:20 you'd be out of there quickly. There was no long-line when I was there at that time.
I hope this helps....The office is found in Columbia Plaza near some shops. There was no long line when I was there. I was there until 8:30, but I wouldn't show up at 8 a.m. Just wake up early like I told you. |

Thanks for the response. All things considered, should I just use apostillepros? I live a few hours from DC and going there will be a headache. Going through apostillepros will work just as well, right? |

Already a thread here. Very helpful.

print out the cover letter and fill it out before you go. Take a number based on how many documents you're doing (1-4 or 5-15), wait for them to call your number, and hand in your cover letter with CBC(s).
When they call your number again, go up to the window, you can pay with credit card (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, or Discover) or check (personal or money order).
You don't have to arrive at 6:20. I showed up at 7:00. Got out at 8:40. |

Well, maybe weigh out the costs. If the cost of staying in a hotel (or motel 6...if they have them around here) is less than the cost of apostillepros, then that might be worth trying.
Or if it's worth it to wake up really early the day you go there, that'd save you more money.
All apostilepros is doing is sending a courier to do what you would be doing if you went yourself. Might be worth it to save yourself the hassle. |
