I find this comment hilarious given what just happened:

August 2011, HP discontinues the Touchpad and has some 250,000 unsold units it's trying to clearance out at pretty attractive prices according to an HP memo:
"HP will be lowering the price of the TouchPad beginning Saturday 8/20/11. This is the lowest price ever for the TouchPad so please post it as soon as it goes live.
16GB TouchPad- $99; 32GB TouchPad - $149" |

No, I bought them from the hp.com store for delivery to my US address. Two have already been canceled, though, so I'm not very hopeful about the last one.  |

| I've placed three different orders for a total of six Touchpads. I'm hoping some of them go through. People are going nuts over here trying to buy them. $99 for a tablet is hard to pass up. |

I wouldn't give up hope. If you bought from hp.com, they are reportedly receiving additionally stock as retailers who refuse to lower prices return their unsold units. So you may have to keep checking every once in a while. Plus a company on ebay was blowing them out at $130 shipped earlier today. That's still incredibly cheap for a flash-enabled web surfing tablet with skype video calling using a 1.3 megapixel camera, double the ram of the ipad2, etc. |
