I'm looking for some opinions.
I know there are numerous threads on what kind of jobs are available outside of direct teaching, especially for those on an F-class visa. I'm more searching for opinions here about their availability, location-wise.
I've been tossing around the idea of coming back in the spring and since I work in media and publishing at home, I have an inclination toward branching out and trying my hand at similar work in Korea. As a background, I taught in for several years, from 2000 to 2004. I'm a bit older now -- so maybe I'm not the usual first choice for a hagwon -- and my professional background wouldn't see me happy limiting myself to hagwons, anyway.
I assume that most significant jobs like I'm exploring (textbook production, content generating, etc.) are likely with larger firms based in Seoul. But I also know that most of the work could be done contractually at home, and submitted digitally to anywhere in the country. My question for those with the knowledge, are there actually significant numbers of office jobs that you know of in cities outside Seoul? Or, would you folks recommend sticking to Seoul? |
