| She could just go to the US on a visa waiver (Koreans can do this now) for your wedding and then fly back to Korea. You could then start the visa process. It might not be as timely a process as you'd like this way, but it would eventually come through. |

Really! That would be amazing! Thank you. This is the kind of information I need hahaha. Now is a visa waiver needed and the K1 (fiance visa)? Or would that take temporary place of the k1? Do you know any specific information on how to get this. Maybe it would be on USCIS?
Thanks a bunch, this really gives me alot of hope!

Once you did that it would no longer be a fiance visa and then be a nonimmigrant spouse visa.
I think you really should contact a lawyer. Honestly, you seem very overhwelmed and lost by this whole process. The lawyer will help you out way more than we ever could, especially when it comes to questions that pertain only to your situation.
Did you think marrying someone from another country was going to be cheap and easy? |

I don't see why it's so hard to fathom he's in the U.S. Army. I myself am also in the U.S. Army (been in Korea for two years) and have been lurking on these forums for about that same time however I just never post. This site is a good barometer to gauge other's experiences in Korea and also serves as a decent anecdotal source for staying in Korea...English teacher or not. I'm also willing to bet there's other military people staying in Korea who have found this site.
Well...now that I finished that tangent, Drew10 touched on all the bullet-points of marrying a Korean national in America. It's entirely possible to do this without getting a lawyer you just have to follow the steps. It's really not that difficult a process should you do that. Just start with the K-1 visa. |

After reading back through this...I have to ask myself...WTF?
The OP is complaining because it's going to cost alot, but is willing to fly his potential wife to the U.S, get married and fly her back to Korea to wait for a visa?
Huh?
The cost of a round trip ticket isn't cheap, and that money is better spent on filing the papers to adjust status to a green card. After you get married you won't have to live in the barracks and can move out to an apartment on your own.
The entire process is pretty straight forward, but in this guys situation I feel like he should go speak to a lawyer, because he seems very confused by the whole process of even asking questions about getting married. |

Those who are supportive thank you!
And to other people, please do me a favor and dont post in here if you are trying to help. I really dont want to deal with defending myself. I am hear to learn from other peoples experiences and decide what I want 100% before I start dishing out money. So if its nothing positive or helping me, please dont post.
Thank you to all who have been helping me very much. It means alot to me and is helping me decide. I am not ready just yet to pay, I want many options first and I will decide soon.
Next I will contact a lawyer! Thanks again |
