I plan to upgrade my current phone to an iPhone in October. Once I do that, I can just use my iPhone as a wireless hotspot anywhere in Korea.
However, in the interim, I'd REALLY love to have some sort of access. Does anyone know if there's any such thing as short-term, prepaid or no-contract account with NESPOT or Olleh? Or perhaps there's a way to rent one of those WiBro devices that I hear so much about?
I don't speak Korean so if you can tell me how to access the info in English, I'd be most appreciative. |

A scheme named 'Olleh Wifi FLASH' charges 3000 Won per day (or 1000 per hour).
Since you don't have an iPhone yet, hence assuming you'll be using your laptop, locate an Olleh/NESPOT Access Point and run your browser. You'll be automatically connected to KT's gateway website where you purchase your access. There's a button for English menu somewhere on the upper half of the front page, you can proceed in English accordingly. |

I use an ipad. It doesn't support flash. Perhaps I'm screwed. |

I don't think he means the Flash program. Flash is a term usually used in modding and hacking. |

'Flash' is just the name KT has assigned to this prepaid wifi access product, it doesn't mean wifi access will rely on Adobe Flash. Run Safari and see for yourself. |

I signed up for Olleh wi-fi access to use on my iPod touch. It works at all KT Olleh hotspots on the subway, cafes, etc, etc. To use it on one device it costs about 8,800 a month in total but you can only use it on that one specific computer, iPod, whatever (they'll ask for the iPod/computer ID number and register it). If you want to use more than one device it costs more per month.
Just go to one of the big KT Global stores during the week, or call 02-1588-8448 and they should be able to help you (that's what I did). You need your ARC number and bank account number, as they'll automatically withdraw the monthly fee out of your account. They do have contracts, but the difference between a contract and a month to month deal isn't much. |

Thanks Sugarloaf - that sounds like the road I'll take. |

Just curious...does the iPod touch have the ability to share a connection through wifi? I was thinking that if you sign up for the 8000 won plan, and then turn on sharing, you could have a passable internet connection for your home. |

I don't think it does but if your 2nd device is capable of picking up a wi-fi connection then I'm sure the wireless modem submitting the signal would be good enough.
I have the 8000W Nespot plan by the way and since I have Qook Tv and KT internet they gave me a wireless modem for my house for free. |
