|
|
Just a little word to those in the Seolleung Station area..
There's a bar called Keller (켈러) at the west end of the drinking area from Seolleung Station exit 1 which use to serve great beer, but at one point decided that it was a good idea to sneak a little soju in the draft beer to get the customers a little more tipsy in hopes of more sales. Some of you make like drinking soju bombs, so this bar might be just the thing, but if I can't stand s-bombs, especially when wanting to down a nice cold one. I have been here on a few occasions sporadically and each time, it's the same deal, draft beer with a hint of soju. And it doesn't matter what kind of draft beer, they all are tainted. Poor servers don't even realize what they're serving people after confronting them. I'm sure that the owner does it in the back room somewhere unnoticed. Anyways, just lettin y'all know.. |

Is it possible to put a foreign substance in a keg? |

It would be possible to feed something in to the lines easily enough. It would take a lot of work to keep that happening on a regular basis, but it would be possible. I'd suggest it's probably not soju as the logistics of keeping on top of putting soju in the line would be a nightmare. Of course, they could pour soju in to the glass before topping up with beer. It's more likely to be line cleaner or the result of dirty lines. |

Come to think of it, your right, not sure how or when they would add the substance into the keg. The other possibility is that it's not really a keg. I have seen some places just pour beer into some metal container. From there, they are able to 'pump' out the beer just like from a keg. I'll try to confirm this if I ever decide to go back there. |

I agree, think it's dirty lines. Makes beer taste absolutely awful.
If you find out this is the case, tell the owner! I hate getting a skunky beer. |

I would also think the hoses are dirty, or the tap has never been cleaned, or something along those ends.
I've heard a rumor that a certain infamous "S**** Pub" in Itaewo has never cleaned there hoses since they've bee open.
Probably not true, but I just order vodka tonics just to be safe. |

As an occasional "Get me Bombed ASAP" boozer I would say that the term "tainted" should be replaced with "enhanced". Now that Hite is a step closer to the OE/Steel Reserve I need it to be. |

I remember starting at a bar once that had a great reputation locally for real ale. Their lager and cider drafts, on the other hand, had been totally neglected. The filth that came out of the cider taps, not something that needs much maintenance as there's typically less yeast used in cider, was incredible. It took me bloody months to get that place a reputation for well maintained lager. |

Indeed. So you just import it on your own. |

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but what is 'real ale'? I know this is an English thing to do with beer, but I've never really understood exactly what it meant. Thanks. |

It's just the same as cask ale but with a few more stricter restrictions on maturation that are decided by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). Read more on what real ale is here. |

you wouldn't spike the keg, you would pour the soju into the picture first then fill the picture or the glass with the beer, perhaps a shot or two. |

Hey, I was just curious. When you go to a bar, do you actually order pictures of beer? |
