BTW Krats, where did you find the wheat-free soy sauce?
I was gluten free for 6 weeks in June and July and felt much better. Lost a ton of weight, too. Also, watch out for the gluten in beer. |

Fortunately, beer isn't an issue for me (I don't drink). ;0) I have to have someone confirm the soy sauce for me. I checked the ingredients list, but my Korean's pretty basic. I'll get back to you. |

I buy
Frozen mixed veges from Homeplus Perfect for frying and last months.
Lots of fresh fruit - apples, oranges, pineapple, Kiwifruit, bananas
Frozen fruits - most kinds including blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, mango, strawberries....
Fresh salads and lettuces
Germinated Brown Rice which can be found at big stores. It has the fibre of brown rice but more vitamins and minerals cause it's germinated.
Raw nuts - walnuts, peanuts, almonds
Baked Beans in tomato sauce - for that taste of home
You can get fresh chicken breasts for about 5,000won |

I'm not the greatest cook. I usually buy stuff that is simple to make for those weekends I don't feel like going anywhere. I don't like spending an overly long time preparing food at home as I find that in Korea, it's not really cost effective and I just don't like the mess that comes with it (cooking one meal = a whole load of dishes). I eat out a lot too.
Anyway, this is my core shopping list for pretty much every time I go:
Pasta sauce
Spaghetti noodles
Tofu
Vegetables suitable for spaghetti
Cheese (Brie)
Crackers
Salsa
Rice chips
Rice cakes
Rice (instant cups)
Udon (individually)
Shoyu (for udon)
Pre-made vegetarian curry (E-mart sells it)
Bento boxes (inarizushi and bibimbap usually)
Whole wheat bread
Peanut butter
Strawberry jam
Blueberry jam
Bananas
Apples (when the price is right)
E-mart cheese pizza
Orange juice |
