|
|
Apologies if this is asked often - I've read the Thaivisa forums but I'm still not clear on the process.
I'm planning on going to Thailand for a couple of months and I'm trying to figure out whether I can get a 60 day tourist visa while I'm here in Korea.
Is there a Thai embassy here that can do it? Alternately, is it possible to extend my 30 day tourist visa once I'm in the country? I've done the whole backpacking circuit before so I'd rather not do any visa runs if I don't have to.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks. |

You can get a double entry, 60 day tourist visa at the Thai embassy in Korea. Each entry can be extended by 30-days giving you a total time in country (with a simple border run) of 6 months.
You can get a 30 day entry on arrival and you can get a 7-day extension for 1900 baht at immigration in Thailand for a total time of 37 days. Border runs get you an additional 15 days.

As of last January, the tourist visa from the embassy in Seoul (in Hanamdong) was free, too. Don't know if it's still the case. |

That program is over, I had to pay for my last Thai tourist visa in July. |

I showed the lady at the embassy my itinerary from the travel agent where I bought the ticket in Canada and she didn't accept it. She said she wanted an 'e-ticket'. Wtf is an e-ticket? We were doing this in Korean by the way so maybe I missed something. I bought from my travel agent, she printed my itinerary, and then I go to the airport and pick up my ticket on the day of the flight. I don't understand this e-ticket business.

If you did the 60 day, how much was it? |

I thought they had waived the visa fees (again) because of all the flooding-- their website lists it at 40,000 won, but you may want to double-check

You need to show them the eticket receipt, (with an airline-issued number), not just a simple itinerary. You should have received an email with all the relevant info, probably from the agent, but with additional info, including airline mumbo-jumbo numbers showing proof that you've actually paid/have a ticket, not just a reservation.
Alternatively, go on the airline's website and get an eticket printout from the site directly- that should work. |

You can get a tourist visa from the Thai embassy, probably a multi-entry one. Two months then take a quick trip to Tachilek Burma for another two months. if you're in Korea, it so happens the Thai embassy is down the street from Iteawano road. They used to be free, i don't think they are anymore. |
