Not that this is a secret, and I'm sure it has been covered and talked about before. Just found my mug from 3 years ago, and thought I'd share the page with ya'll.
Anybody else find their mug/info?! |

Well this a lesson to everyone to never let unflattering photos loose on the internet. I particularly like the photo of the woman with a bird on her shoulder, did she seriously send that photo to apply for a job? |

Is this just confirmation that we're all hired on our looks? |

While we're on the subject of pictures, there's a variety of dress on that website. Of course, no t-shirt and no birds, but do you think business casual is fine or do you really need to put on a suit (or at least a tie)?
Personally, I think the guy with the tie looks pretty sharp (not crazy about the red background), but what did other posters with jobs wear? |

What about the guy who obviously took the pic with his webcam, in his basement, in front of the cement wall and cardboard boxes, wearing a football jersy and 48 hour shadow... I guess he's decent looking, young and white, so it's ok...?
There's also a young guy with 2 Asian females on both side (4 girls in total)... it looks friendly. |

email them and ask them to take it down.
Sometimes they actually do listen to such requests. |

I found stuff I mailed to my recruiter on Google. I emailed them and they apologized and took the info out promptly. |

Stuff like this is all the more reason to vet your recruiter carefully. Some have websites like this that post your photos. Others spend spam to various teachers---Park English was sending me emails every week with a long list of applicants, their pictures, and their information. Some put applicants' resumes online. And some fabricate endorsements.
Also, while it's stupid to have to submit pictures with your application to prove you're white / blonde, it also would be a good idea to brush your hair, shave, and change out of your favorite jersey. |

Eh......maybe this goes a long way towards explaining why these new grads have such a hard time with the job market.
A little side story. My wife works for an international corporation which infrequently provides internships to the kids of insiders. These are "foot-in-the-door" opportunities most newbies would kill for. I think I can be forgiven, then, for grinding my teeth when I hear how these interns put their feet up on desks and listen to their IPOD-s while they are suppose to be working.
Best Wishes,
Bruce |
