IMHO, you're Korean, and don't want to believe one single woman acting for the most part quite alone has shown up the Korean 'justice' system, and then some. |
Nice try playing the "you're Korean and therefore you cannot be objective" card. I'm a lawyer and I've spent years on my BS detector. If you really believe that a dozen Koreans spontaneously conspired to kill her kid, then please refer back to my conspiracy fan comment. |

Only she hasn't. How exactly did she show up the system and what changes were made?
I sympathize with her loss but it was obvious that it was simply a tragic accident.
Seriously...? A bunch of random Koreans in a well-lit public place where families were present just decided to kill a random foreigner for...what exactly? |

On a side note, if you're wondering how your buddy in jail is doing, you should read the book "Brother One Cell" about an English teacher who served three years in prison for drugs. Written about his experience in 1997, I doubt Korean prisons have changed much since then, prisoner quality of life just doesn't seem like an issue Koreans would want to spend much money on.
Also, Central Cali usually gives no bs posts concerning military relations and is pretty spot on, too. |

That book is a great read.

I actually agree with Madoka and I'm not Korean.
Dude, you should't play the K-card with him. Madoka is one of the more sensible posters on this forum. |

On July 15th, I predicted this:

As to the actual charges, see my posting of Wed Jul 13, 2011 7:59 pm. Fisher was convicted of "Robbery" and "Damage to Public Property." A taxi is not public property, so the robbery charge covers his theft in that incident. Police officers are not public property (nor are all of them lazy) so the damage to public property must refer to some kind of vandalism. The "beat down," as madoka mentioned, was likely as a result of Fisher's resisting arrest. |
I've got another dozen donuts that says that the damage to public property is to the police car as he was resisting arrest. I've been on enough police ride-alongs to know how common that is. |
"The Korean court found that on November 19, 2010, PVT Fisher punched a cab driver in the face instead of paying his 14,000 Won ($13.19) cab fare and stole an additional 94,000 Won ($88.56) from the cab. Furthermore, the court found that upon arrest, PVT Fisher caused over 600,000 Won ($565.26) worth of damages to the police car by kicking the back door, breaking the window and causing additional damage."
I WIN! Where's my donuts guys? |

In Andre's own words:
http://juliansstory.wordpress.com/
"Andre describes prison conditions as pretty fair, saying, The guards try to treat us as good as they can. He adds he has his own room, a television with limited channels, and he gets outside his room for four hours a day except Sundays when theres no exercise hour, and Tuesdays when SOFA people come with food for the week, including eggs, sausages and bacon, and MRAs of which hes eaten more than enough. His only complaints are the food and the boredom. He enjoys reading ESPN Sports magazine but otherwise has too much time to sit around thinking way too much." |
