A show is different from real life.
Ever hear of Kitty Genovese? She was stabbed in view of several people. One of the witnesses (a man) shouted at the attacker (from the safety of his apartment window) to leave the girl alone but did nothing else...didn't even apparently bother calling the police.
Or Sandra Zahler who was beaten to death? Witnesses said they heard screams and "fierce struggles" but did nothing.
Both women lost their lives within eyeshot/earshot of multiple witnesses including men. Nothing was done to help them...until it was too late.
A Google search will give you other similar cases.

The guy has issues. Yelling is one thing, but physically threatening a woman and then punching a skinny old man in the face who is sitting down is just disgusting. Can't get much lower than that.
Too bad there weren't a team of Korean Tae kwon do or Judo black belts on that bus to show that guy what he can do with his "rocks."

Wow, you are much more observant than I was... I think that's definitely the misunderstanding. "Ne gah" may have been misinterpreted as "niggah"... that's crazy.
Oh well, that American guy definitely has to go. Public behavior like that ought to get you deported.
I mean, that's such an ugly scene. Sadly, too, it's all too common in America, and somewhat common in Canada. Makes me glad I'm in Korea, actually. |

And supposedly the girl is the black guy's girlfriend. And judging from her reaction, looks like she knows he's in the wrong and her English probably isn't good enough to explain the translation on the fly. But it's all speculation without being there.

I think your over-romanticizing reactions back home. I've got to lean with TUM on this one. Although I think if one person intervenes you'll get a group that would follow in the intervention. The problem is getting that one person to step forward. It does take a lot of courage.
I've only seen two situations in public where a guy is beating on a girl in Canada, after last-call incidentally, and in both cases nobody intervened physically. Although some did call 911. |

Both Kitty Genovese and Sandra Zahler were American. And the American men who were present stood by and did nothing to prevent their deaths.
Oh wait...one guy opened his apartment window and yelled at the attacker of Kitty Genovese "Leave that girl alone."
But he didn't intervene between the two, he didn't go over and make sure she was all right...he didn't even call the police. |

Nonsense. Partially because there are often no men between the ages of 18-65 on a bus. You'll see school kids, women and the elderly most of the time |

No, I'm pointing out that people are more likely not to get involved even if a woman is being attacked. And of the people who actually saw Kitty Genovese being attacked...apparently none of them realized she was being stabbed...it was dark out and at a distance. So they didn't know he had a deadly weapon...so it wasn't that restraining them.
As for Sandra people only heard a woman screaming and the sounds of a violent struggle. But no one even bothered looking. |

I have to agree with the ForeverWanderlust. He said a person would get whipped where he's from. Same thing here. Where I'm from if a guy started to get physical with a woman or older person, for whatever reason, he would have more than a few people on his back. It is changing though.
Sadly to say if this situation happened where I'm from with a black male involved talking and being dressed like he is he would have never gotten on a bus full of non-black folks because he would have people on his back. |

judging by the accent, i'd argue strongly that he's american. he doesn't seem drunk, or anything, either, which is troubling.
and guys, let's get this straight - HE WASN'T WEARING ANY RINGS. he was referring to his knuckles.
i just find it astounding that not one person told the bus driver to stop, open the door, grabbed him, and threw his violent butt out on to the street. we all know how much koreans avoid confrontation, but honestly, that was just weird. |
