So did anyone else think Gervinho and Joey Barton when they saw this?

I like how this articles explains the racist or so called racist words and includes "yankee" if i were called this (although i'm not American) I think I would just laugh... no matter how much spite was put into it.

I've been reading most of the comments on Korean sites, and it seems most netizens are on the fence regarding this one because it is of strong belief that some racism was involved before this altercation. It's not 'all jump on the anti-foreigner bandwagon' as Dave's people tend ot think.

I've always wondered exactly who it is that Korea Sentry is on guard against, who it is they're protecting and who exactly is threatening them.

I may be an apologist but that site has struck me as sheer idiocy. Kind of like a militia group minus the cool guns and drinking.

Yeah, I was just poking my nose around a bit. Lots of interesting "opinions" there. Dave's has its moments of foolishness but those guys are special.

Korean sentry is comparable to a rebel faction in Brazil. They say they represent their country and are doing things for the 'good of all', but most of the time they are just extremists who are outcasts in their own country. They do not represent the opinions of modern Koreans in Korea, just a minority. And we all know disgruntled minors always shout the loudest.

I hear the audio but the screen is just green. I don't think he's an American as he doesn't speak like one.

judging by the accent, i'd argue strongly that he's american. he doesn't seem drunk, or anything, either, which is troubling.

and guys, let's get this straight - HE WASN'T WEARING ANY RINGS. he was referring to his knuckles.

i just find it astounding that not one person told the bus driver to stop, open the door, grabbed him, and threw his violent butt out on to the street. we all know how much koreans avoid confrontation, but honestly, that was just weird.

Are you serious? You think a psycho like that is just going to let a bus driver grab him and throw him off? The bus driver didn't want to get his head smacked in like everyone else.

i dont care how big you are are not gonna be able to kick 5 men's ass at the same time.

Look at your own quote- you said 'the bus driver', you didn't mention four other guys.

Anyway, it's all very well to talk about five guys this and that but one of them would have to initiate and who's going to be the one to do that? I've been in situations like that where there's one big guy and nobody wants to take him on even though there is a group. Plus in this case you're with a bunch of strangers- you have no guarantee that any of them are going to back you up if you start it.

i don't think i explained myself very well, and for that i apologise. i meant i found it hard to believe that no one said, "hey, bus driver - stop the bus and open the door, so that we can all throw this guy out."

whether it was one guy who literally had to do it or five - it didn't matter. i would've thought that the fact he wasn't korean would've made the decision for the koreans easier.

and he wasn't THAT big. you can push over any size of dude if you do it quickly enough.

The Korea Times has a story about it.

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2011/08/117_93705.html

It was on the TV news tonight, too. This is going to be a big story.

Flipping out on a bus isn't going to help anyone who was cheated by a hagwon.

I'd have to see/hear EVERYTHING that took place, from beginning to end to formulate an opinion.

there could've been some really bad racism involved. We don't know.

I'd agree he shouldn't have punched the old guy, a shove so he flew across the bus would've done the trick if whatever he said/did was so egregious. Better still would've been to simply get in the guy's face as close as humanly possible without striking him but causing him to wet his pants.

(btw that didn't look like a full power punch either)

hard to tell because of the angle and oversized clothes, but the guy looks fairly big/muscular. You can tell by the size of the back. An over sized shirt can't fill that for you.

the first three Koreans that tried to jump that guy would've been probably comitting quasi suicide.

I'm American and I agree. No one would hurt my feelings by calling me "Yankee." Hell, the poms have been trying to make it more hurtful for years. Yank, Septic Tank, Sep, Seppo, etc. They had to stretch really far.
