The guy was just doing what most of us have felt like doing... whenever a Korean ajosshi mumbles anti-foreign jibes or casually insults your gf under his breath.
If you don't understand that then you must be living in a different Korea to the one I live in. |

This sort of thing is happening in America. Whether a group of teenagers are beating a transgender or causing problems during Spring Break. The sad part is is that Obama's America is coming to Korea. |
say what idiot?
aren't you the same fool that linked a Rick Perry link to a different thread?
blaming Obama for customs searching harddrives?
where do you think a gay or transgender is more afraid to be?
in the middle of redneck Texas, or anywhere else in the redneck south (or in the northern urban areas of their white "working class" cousins, aka white trash)
or in the middle of super liberal (you know.. Obama like) Manhattan or San Francisco.
would you say acceptance of gays/transgenders, etc has gone up or gone down since the times of say...Ronnie Reagan? and people of which political persuasion are more accepting?
begone with yee, fool! |

my only quibble with that would be... he let himself go just a little too far. You stand up for yourself , don't back down and keep up the pressure but never ever throw the first punch. Only the second. Even if under Korean "law" you'd be judged guilty you'd be innocent under your conscience. That's more important.
lastly, that "adjosshi" looks awfully close to being grandpa. I give grandpas a LOT more leeway than I would a middle aged, but still physically able man. |

when the black guy says "molla' " molla"... I think he means what I know/pronounce as "mwoyah" which means I don't know.. I don't know.
so he's yelling out "I dunno, I dunno" in Korean in an angry and mocking tone.
which NOW leads me to think.. perhaps he DID (misunderstand) being called a "nigger"???
so he's getting super angry.. as in what did you say to me? call me????
you don't know???? you don't know?????????????????????
this makes sense.
my other question is to fluent korean speakers, culturally aware people, preferably gyopos or native Koreans.
is the "Korean" way to say shut up the SAME exact way we would say shut up? with the same inference of them being "fighting words"??
and how would you say "shut up" that way in Korean? does anyone hear that being said and where/by whom in the various videos? |
dak-jaw or how ever you say it (shut up) is fighting words. |
is this in fact, what the Korean guy said?
and are those considered "fighting words" among Koreans, or does an older guy get a pass saying them by virtue of his parents having had sex sooner? |

The guy had the chance to back off several times but I think he was just dtermined to get a dig in. It looks like a case of blowing off several months of built-up steam.^^ maybe he just got fired from his E2 and didn't care how he went out.
We've all exploded at ajosshis. lets be fair. Sure most people avoid actual physical assault, but if you've never bawled out an ajosshi for qeue-jumping or other primitive behaviour then I pity you.
What a lot of 5ft 7-stone ajosshis don't realise is that... in the real world, you only get to act the way they do if you're 6ft5 and built like arnold schwarzennegger. |

Some of you need to stop assuming what happened and relax
Dude broke the rules and got arrested. That's what happens when you attack someone. Well, maybe not for rich people.
Did the old guy call him a name or say something to set him off? Possibly, probably, but beating on a old man and pulling a woman isn't going to help your case. |

agree with you wholeheartedly.
though (as much as I hate to do this) in defense of the 5 foot, 111 lb adjosshi, this is their "real world"
makes you think of the movie "300", where the Korean adjosshi dressed up as Leonidas yells at you "This is Korea".. as he plants his little foot squarely in your solar plexus and you fall down the well".
I would PAY someone to beat the crap out of some deserving adjosshi acting this way outside of Korea though

The old man was 61 years old according to the news reports. I guess ZIFA thinks there's nothing wrong with punching elderly people in the head. |

damn .. that means he was 60. that's probably the line in the sand (though in my mind elderly means mid 60's and beyond) 60-65 is probably no man's land) , and you take into account their physical condition first and foremost.
Would you feel the same way had the guy been 55? or even 50? |

confirmed that's what he said??
well a quick search brings this:
http://translate.google.co.kr/translate?hl=ko&langpair=en|ko&u=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shut_up
same CULTURAL context? aka fighting words?? or a more "gentle" way to actually say "shut up"? |

I judge people on their behaviour, not their age.
You don't get a free pass for saying "shut up nigger" even if you are 61. It reminds me of the ajummas who bash and barge their way through everyone just because they are over 60.
Sorry but in the west you are expected to act wiser and more polite with age, or you lose all that respect you built up. |
