How long are Thai and Indian tourist visas good for once they have been placed in your passport? I am considering going ahead and applying for visas from both countries now so that I won't have to mail in applications back home, even though I am not planning to travel to either country until the beginning of next year. I just don't want to get the visas and then have them expire before I can use them. Thanks in advance to anyone with information about this! |

90 days from date of issue for single entry visas (use it or lose it).
6 months to 1 year for multi-entry visas (depending on YOUR country of origin - up to 5 or 10 years for a multi-entry business visa).

For Thailand they will stamp a tourist visa in your passport at port of entry, I think it's good for 90 days if you arrive by air. By land it's only 30 days. |

Thanks, you guys. I guess I'll be waiting to apply for my visas then, unless there are different rules for the Thai double-entry visa recently mentioned on another thread here (I'm hoping to spend a good 4-5 months in Thailand). |

Nope.
Actual visa - 60 days (double entry visa can be obtained from the consulate) with an allowable 30 day extension (1900 baht) for each entry.
entry on arrival:
-by air 30 days - possible 1 week extension; 1900 baht.
-by land 15 days - possible 1 week extension; 1900 baht.

The OP means how long does the visa remain useable or viable when it is placed in the passport. |
