The next lovely little speedbump in my document process seems to be concern from my employer's HR department related to the fact that the text of my BA degree is written in Latin. Is this a problem that others have experienced? Do degrees need to be translated? Is some other document needed?

To be clear, it is from McGill University, and as a Canadian university degree is subject to a different and yet equally enjoyable certification process.

Back when Korean Immigration accepted original degrees it was occasionally a problem.

However, as long as the degree copy is notarized by the Korean Consulate in Canada it shouldn't be an issue.

I had no problem with my degree from McGill.

I had a little hiccup with my Queen's degree about 10 years ago, but Korea being what it was, they just said "screw it" and accepted it.

No problems since.

Does it say your name on it? I think with your name on it, it's fine. My sister is in Latin too, but her name is on the degree.

Mine is Latin and hasn't ever been a problem.

Mine is in Latin, and I've held three jobs, three document processes, never a problem.

I can't believe someone actually read the fine print on those things. Figured they just looked at the name and the apostille.
