I met somebody who legally tutors privates. I don't tutor privates and I am not interested but one thing struck me - how low the pay is for private tutoring. He is experienced at teaching, has a degree and is getting 10,000 won per hour from his private student. He does a lot of preparation.

10,000 won per hour for English teaching sounds cheap to me. Is it the norm in Korea?

Can legally teach privates? Are they Korean or a foreigner with an F-series Visa?

If its a foreigner, nobody works for 10,000 an hour, that's ludicrous.

Its around 35,000+ depending on the level of the student or what they need.

If he's Korean, it's normal.
