There are other obstacles. Half of that 3 million live the life of nomads on the steppe. Although they will, if they can afford it, send their kids to UB for education (but they have to then pay for room & board, making it more cost prohibitive). UB itself is hardly an int'l city, and Mongolia's exports and imports come predominantly from its two massive neighbors.
Lastly, Mongolia ranks 161st among nations in per capita income. It is a poor country. |

Not the next EFL market.
This from the article:
Many locals they're worried the mine will drain all the water, although mine owners say Oyu Tolgoi has a separate underground source.
WILL definitely drain ALL the water! Guarantee it.
Greed definitely has no boundaries.
Look for the yellow sand storms in Korea to increase their
window by 2-3 weeks on each side of the season. Yuk! |

No. Russian is still the main foreign language of Mongolia. Mandarin is a language of commerce. |

Actually, I think that Vietnam is much more likely to be the next Korea. |

There will be a small niche there for a hand full (literally, maybe 20 teachers.)
The only place they could teach would be UB and jobs are going to be limited there. They won't be "English obsessed" like Korea and China are. But for the miners and investment bankers (the only 2 real industries there) there will be a need for business English classes. |

Hopefully!
I would relish the prospect.
How far ahead will that be do you think? |

2007. There have been more $2,000 U.S. positions than you can shake a fist at for years now. |

I hear there is a lot of xenophobia in Mongolia. Is that the case? |
