My computer crashed. I don't know why? I have a Dell. I went to the Dell center and they reinstalled Vista. They told me that my fiels would be erased but I thought i had just saved them on my external hard drive but i didn't!!!!

Is there a way to recover my lost files. I have looked it up but am scares to do anything b/c it says you have to try to move them to your external hard drive and I just don't understand. I really need some help!

I live in HBC and am willing to pay someone who is computer savvy. Also, the new vista they put on ym computer is all in Korean Sad

Please message me if interested. If files retrieved will pay handsomely!

Very doubtful that they would be recoverable. They probably formatted the drive and reinstalled Vista, overwriting your stuff.

The time to get the files was BEFORE you took it to the Dell center.

Someone else might have a suggestion, but it is not looking positive, sorry.

Hi....the ability to recover your files depends on the type of format dell performed on your hard drive. Most likely, a majority of your files can be recovered using data recovery software. I say a majority because the new install of Windows Vista will have overwritten some files. Any files, that have been totally or partially overwritten will be forever lost. The rest should be recoverable. If you really need those files back, the best advice I can give you at this point is to NOT install anything or put any additional files on the formatted hard drive. Basically don't use the computer at all. Instead, remove the hard drive and attach it to another computer and run the file recovery software from the other computer.
