Can someone clarify?
The renewal bonus is for EPIK schools and not GEPIK right?
I know that if you renew with GEPIK, you get the extra two weeks and the round trip flight home, but I'm not sure if there is a resigning bonus.
I saw on a website that GEPIK gives a renewal bonus but it's definitely not in the latest contract. |

It is/was an either/or (bonus or flight, not both) and depends on which version of the contract you are on.

Thanks Tom (as always).
This is in regards to the 2009-2010 contract. At the end of the year, I'm not sure if the deposit I got was a renewal bonus or my severance pay.
My school is asking this year if I got my severance pay last year and I'm trying to figure if I did, or if that was a renewal bonus.
I'm not trying to cheat anyone. I think the confusion for me lies in the fact that I work near mostly EPIK schools and a lot of my friends were getting their renewal bonuses at the time (I'm the only person in my area working for GEPIK). I also saw some other posts about a GEPIK renewal bonuses.
I would usually check my contract but since its from two years ago I have it in my apartment.
I'm thinking its the severance pay though. I just want to know for sure before I let my school off the hook for a months salary. |

In any given year, NOT all schools in Gyeonggi use the same contract (even though they were supposed to). You really do have to look at what YOUR contract said.
Chances are that if you got money and airfare then the money would have been your severance for that contract.
The renewal bonus is in lieu of the return airfare for your "2 week home visit" that you get for a renewal of contract. Like I said above, either/or but not both.

Thanks Tom. I definitely got my flight paid for (had it pushed until the holiday season) so it sounds like they definitely gave me my severance. |
