I respectfully disagree. The comma and "and" are required.

I really enjoy reading and learning English. That is fine.

However, when you add the "is more like a fun hobby for me." It makes the comma and and necessary.

Because in the journalist's example there are two independent clauses. These must be combined with a comma and conjunction. Otherwise, they must be separated into two individual statements.

In the sentence, "I really enjoy reading and learning English." "And" is functioning to connect two words. That is ok. But when you add the rest of the sentence (is more like a fun hobby for me) it becomes an independent clause.
