|
|
I apologize for the lazy questions, but I'm hoping someone can get me a quick answer so I can send my documents off tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance.
I just received my CBC back from the FBI today and now I know it needs to be apostilled. A few questions:
1. I was originally thinking of using something like apostillepros.com to get it done quickly, but I just found out that I have a family friend that lives in the DC area who would be willing to help. If I send them my CBC, do they need an application form attached or any other documents?
2. Do I send my diploma (Illinois school) to the same place to be taken care of at the same time?
3. Correct Address?
Columbia Plaza Store Front
518 23rd Street NW
Washington, DC 20520
Thanks again |

Don't send your diploma to DC. You need the copy apostilled in the same state where it was notarized. |

Thanks alot isitts, that was exactly what I needed. (For some strange reason I get a google error whenever I try to use Dave's search bar). I'll try to find another computer to find out about the Illinois apostille. Thanks leftx. |

No problem Yeah, Dave's search engine isn't all that great. I use google to search Dave's.
I saw people at the DOS getting the CBC apostilled for their friend. So shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure they have that cover letter filled out (there's a link to it on the first link I gave above).
They can pay by credit card.
Getting my diploma apostilled has been the bigger pain in the butt. I would call the Secretary of State so they can tell you exactly what you need.
Last time I got this done in Washington State and that was easy. Did it in Virginia this time and they wanted a particular stamp plus a notorial statement.
This plus my bank said they couldn't notarize true copies, and the UPS Store said the notorial statement was unnecessary. I told them to fill out the statement anyway. We'll see what happens in a few days. |

Ugh. UPS Stores are so inconsistent. I had the first one I went to for fingerprinting tell me they couldn't take my fingerprints because I was from out of state. I got back in my car and went five minutes down the road to another, and the woman at the second store didn't care what state I was from.
Sometimes you just have to keep trying with those people. You're lucky you got someone reasonable enough to agree to fill out the statement anyway. I hope it all works out. |

UPS Store does fingerprints? Why would they care what state you came from if you're sending them to the FBI? I did my prints from out of country.
