I've somehow gotten stuck in korea for about a month after my contract ends and need a cheap place to stay. I heard that koshiwons and the like can run about 200000 a month and really just need a place to put my stuff and sleep.

Has anyone actually stayed at one and know where to find one that will allow me to stay on such short notice? And do any of them speak English or have a way to reserve online? My company said they were going to extend my contract but told me only a week ago that they can't and I pretty much only have a job for two more weeks, maybe only one. So I'm feeling a lot of pressure right now DD:

Hi there!

The time I stayed in a Gositel I used this site. http://www.gosi1.net/ I will be using the same site later this year as well. The site gives you a quite extensive list of gosiwons and gositels in Seoul. Maybe you can "Google Translate" the whole page or ask a friend to help you?

The site is easy to use. Just choose the subway line (from the left) and then the subway station of your choice.

If I were you, I'd pick few areas where to live, print a map with contact info and go and see the places. If you like the place and they have room, you can usually move in the very next day.

i stayed in a goshiwon in sinchon for a month.

i was waiting for my new contract to start so needed a place to stay asap (stayed in a hostel in hongdae for a while but it was more expensive for the month).

it was clean and small but had an en-suite with a seriously funky smell. TV and internet provided. didn't need air con as it was feb.

cost 400,000ish and was in a great location. however, they apparently didn't allow guests or alcohol - but they never mentioned anything to me when i broke the rules.

i was accused of slowing the internet down (visiting waygook websites such as the BBC) but overall it was alright. found it on a friday, moved in on a sat.

I don't know, why don't you try "Swizerland"?
