Yep, deleted it. Was thinking about it for months, then my brother told me he did it. FB annoyed the hell out of me, but I kept it up for "convenience." Have decided that not having an FB account is more convenient. Having heard all kinds of numbers thrown around about the "value" of FB, I've come to the conclusion that it's being pushed up and up and up, yet they are still not allowing the average guy to buy in. Seems to me to be a scheme. Much like the massive values for group on, which loses money. Group on is such a horrible scam for all the smaller merchants who use it.

I had an account for about three weeks in 2009 before I deleted it because I'm not politically correct and hate the idea of censoring myself to my family and friends. I would've loved to blog about Korea while I was there but I would've been fired in the first week. I have a wide range of friends and acquaintances too, some, not so corporate- music and art people who say and do whatever they please. Employers scrutinize every freakin thing about you now. So many people get fired because of seemingly harmless banter on facebook and many more don't get hired because of it too.

What gets me is people being required to have an account for work. I hope I never have to take a job like that. My status would be:

It's Monday
It's Tuesday
It's Wednesday

About that point, I might get fired for something. My FB page was never under my full real name anyway.

Just before I quit, I heard a story about a woman who wrote on FB that her boss was a wanker. He responded with something along the lines of "You forgot you befriended me, huh? Your fired!"

I see a few bandwagon backlashers here......anything that gets big and popular always seems to get its share of backlashers.............be careful, hipsterdom lies in this way of thinking.

There's nothing wrong or intrusive about Facebook after you take the trouble to set the privacy settings to your desired level.

I'm in debt to Facebook for putting me in touch with many old friends and even helping my current situation.

I was up in arms about fakebook as soon as it came out. Saw the cards, so to speak.

You're kidding me, right? Not intrusive? Ok.

I don't find it intrusive at all. Not after I changed all the settings so that only Friends can have any contact with me and all Farmville etc requests and other stupid stuff doesn't show on my feed anymore.

I agree Facebook wasn't very good at privacy for a long while.......but I've been on the internet long enough to know not to put my phone number or other stuff I want private on any website.

Keep it locked down tight and Facebook is no problem at all. Just a nice way to stay in touch with friends and family......most of my older family have no other internet presence except for Facebook.
