As I noted yesterday, the labour board has as much to do with one's visa (and getting a letter of release) as they do with a broken cable TV connection. It's not their job and they have nothing to do with it. |

ignorant *beep*, you are!
like i said in my original post, you would have to be following my previous threads to know the whole story.
the point is, you *beep*, that i have been working here for 3 years without incident. i was brought here and introduced to horrible circumstances, which you know nothing about. the owners blatantly broke our contract.
i tried to do the honorable thing and get out legally.
NOW, not only am i out of a job, i can't get a new one, my name has been trashed by a psychopathic director, and i have to listen to some ignorant son of a bitch like you masturbate on a public forum.
I have a life here, a serious girlfriend, and because of some egotistical, caveman director, i've lost everything. and i tried to do everything right.
So, I'm sorry I wasn't sliced with a meat cleaver, or beaten with kimchi...maybe that would warrant a post by your standards.
You know, i'm starting to wonder if you are the *beep* who fucked me over today....you sure have the personality for it. |

If this is the way hagwon apoligists behave towards the less fortunate members of their profession, then I'm not ashamed to say that I was in it for the money. Keeping my head down and minding my own business was infinitely morally superior to your garbage. |

Because of the B.S to be overcome in korea, those lucky or experienced enough to master it, have a superiority complex over the unfortunate teachers who don't.
If you've learned the tricks of the trade here and how to avoid getting scr*wed over, you're always going to laff at someone who gets sucker- punched. Its a kind of snobbery rife among teachers here. |

Just read the EFL-Law site, which explains what to do if your school won't sign. Keep that paper handy.
Try to find another job IMMEDIATELY.
Tell a new school who wants to hire you all about the problem. Be honest. The new school can do a ton to help you get a new Visa -- and you may not need the work release. Maybe not having an E-2 with the place yet, and the fact that you were there just 2 weeks, will help.
If it matters, I had an E-2 for a school once, but the employer cancelled because it was a new school and he didn't have enough students to hire me. The stupid employer, however, never cancelled the E-2 with immigrations. So I came to Korea, and tried to enter as a tourist. Immigrations stopped me, pulled me into the little room next to customs, and tried to figure out what was going on. I told them that the other school didn't hire me, because they couldnt' get enough students. I said that the E-2 should be cancelled, but maybe the employer forgot.
I told them I'm coming back to Korea to find a new employer and get a new E-2. Guess what? THEY LET ME IN. And guess what else? I got a new job with a new school, and a recruiter went with the employer and helped me get a new E-2. |

Gollum...
Thanks for the encouragement....I only wish it could be so easy in my case.
I DO have another job lined up. My previous employer (2years ago) is welcoming me back with open arms if I can only get out of this mess.
My present 'owner' is 'taunting' me to try and come back on a tourists visa. They want me to spend the money on the procedure and have me denied on my return.
I left the school yestersday with them hurling all kinds of accusations at me and the directors wife swinging at me while being restrained by her husband...in true korean drama style. I couldn't believe it was happening. |

As your new employer to call and try to work something out with them.
This is common in Korea. |

What is really sad is that many of those who claim to have adapted to "the culture" have also bought into some vague traveller's interpretation of the Neoconfucian all-pervading social hierarchy, and drag their quasi-fascist ideology onto these forums to kick or laugh at any expatriate who has fallen on hard times. What is worse, they claim to be greater authorities on Korean culture than real, open-minded, worldly-wise Koreans who have the courage to be critical of some aspects of their own nation and traditions.
Their own ideology comprises a curious combination of left-wing acceptance of all cultural differences (no matter how undemocratic) with a right-leaning cynicism of the Western ideals of social freedom and the financial safety net. These ideals do not contradict each other, of course; but some apologists really seem to have "found themselves" in their travels. Leave them to it.
Even if you are positive about some aspects of Korea, you are then flamed for being positive about the wrong things ("Oh, so you only like Korea when it's WESTERNIZED, do you?"). Clearly they are not motivated by facts, logic, morality or "setting the record straight", but by preserving the conflict in order to "save face". Yep, they've converted that thoroughly. |

How do you know what the other foriegner said? Were you in the room, or is this what your director told you? If you were in the room, than this guy is an asshat.
If you want to get back at your director, after this is all played out, sit down with your coworkers and tell them everything that's happened. Make sure they know what they are getting into. |

Apparently the other foreign teacher (who was just hired 3days ago)relayed a comment I made about the stress affectig my teaching energy. My exact word were 'I don't know how long i can keep working in these conditions before i starts affecting my teaching.'
He told the director that 'i was going to cause students to leave'....and he swore those were my words.
I never thought a fellow foreigner could be so rotten.
The director has been coddling this guy since he arrived, and basically making my situation intolerable.
I can't count the times where the newbie- replacing some bad situation or showing up on the scene- becomes the shoulder to cry on and then judge and jury all in a few short hours of the "bad" teacher on his/her way out. Yes- when I was a newbie the owners would isolate me to tell me to stay away from this, that, and the other teacher because of bla, bla, bla. And then- after that question me about what such-n-such said.
I do think it's pretty sick when newbies take the invitation to be the hero by ratting-out someone or slurping up all the positive attention of the director and then taking a "bad teacher, bad teacher" position.
Such newbies need their @ss kicked for the brown-noser, ratting-out, superior attitudes they take because such low-lifes wouldn't get away with that kind of crap in Britain, Australia, America, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand... Newbies don't understand that in most instances a lot of shhhht has been unloaded on the previous/old teacher and perhaps ought to shut-up and wait in line when the shhhhhht hits the fan for them.
Why do so many newbies, when the owner cries on their shoulder, have to be the hero? Why? It's almost like it's a pre-programmed response. |

Now now. I only read the OP, in your other post where you cry about your housing. You've been here 3 years, and you don't know enough to get your own housing? Dumb dumb dumb.
You've been here 3 years and signed a blind concract? You've never met the guy? Seen the housing? Been to the school? Really do a little research. Dumb dumb dumb.

Ignorant SOB am I? Well if you weren't so ignorant you would have taken better care of what you were doing. You have a serious girlfriend and someone took all that away from you. Take some responsiblity for yourself. You are pathetic. If you really cared about things you would have gotten yourself a proper job and planned ahead. You sound like you want to go back to your old job now? Well if it was so great why did you leave it for this one? I guess you got greedy and got scammed. Now you're here crying a river for sympathy. Getting scammed by people who you know scam people, makes it as much your fault as anyones.

Oh look some else F'ed you over. My point exactly. Everyone screws you but you. If you actually learned to take responsiblity for things you'd be better off. Suck it up!!!!!!!!!!! Life isn't fair and you F'ed up and screwed yourself, now deal with it. But don't come on here and expect sympathy from me, for your lazyiness or greed biting you in the ass. By the way I had nothin to do with your labour board case, but can imagine how you sounded and can guess why you were dismissed. Not the LB's job but they do help some people with phone calls when they are polite and calm. Most people act like rude demanding jerks.

Actually it has nothing to do with it. Ask around I spend most of my time helping people on this board. But this guy is arrogant rude and screwed himself. And he wants everyone to cry for him. Well tough. Someone p.med me the other day and asked for help politely and I helped her for a couple days (please don't everyone it takes a lot of time). This guy acts like the world owes him a favour. Well it don't. 2 weeks on a job that he picked. Suck it up and go about things legally. If he can't get out, thats his problem. It's called planning and he should have did some.
