Ok so, I'm not totally naive. But I just want to clear something up.

We've probably all seen at one point, the business cards dropped on the ground with girls on them. Obviously you call they number, they send a girl to your place. Wham bam thank you maam.

But I live in a really nice neighborhood in Bundang. It's pretty upscale. I still see the cards on the street from time to time.

However, lately when I come home from work, there are menus taped to my door for chinese food, pizza, chicken, etc. But there are also these slim cards with magnets slid between the door and the frame. Out of view of passers by, but clearly you can see it when you open the door. My Korean isn't so hot, but I can make out "24hr massage delivery."

Thing is, they don't look all slutty like the cards on the street. They show pictures of people getting actual massages. They even list the types, like Thai, deep tissue, Swedish, etc..

So, do you think this is just another call girl service, or might this be the real deal? Like I said, the cards aren't cheap and trashy. They actually look like something you'd get off the counter at an actual therapy massage place. And my officetel is fairly rich and upscale. It doesn't seem like the kind of neighborhood people would openly advertise alternative services.

Should I give them a call and see what's up? Because if it's legit, there are times I can't sleep at night my neck is in so much pain (don't crack your neck too much kids, it'll fudge you up.)

I didn't realize that massage cards wouldn't be in your kind of upscale neighborhood. They certainly wouldn't want to offend you, would they?

A couple years back in Dongdaemun, me and some drunk mates called one to see what would happen. A girl answered in Korean and we spoke in English. She hung up. An English-speaking man called us back 30 seconds later and asked us what we needed. We just laughed and made some dumb banter before hanging up. Most stories are that non-Koreans will often be turned away, but given the amount of Russians in Dongdaemun, maybe we could have worked something out if we had been looking for action.

My guess is a legitimate massage with a possibility of a happy ending. The 24 hour part seemed odd to me when I saw these ads the first time, but thinking more about it they probably get a lot of business from insomniacs.

These rumors are spread by insecure Korean guys who think that even Korea prostitutes are too high-class to sleep with foreign guys. Prostitutes will do ANYONE for money, that's why they called back.

I know Koreans like to stay up late, but I doubt many people want a real massage at 4 or 5 in the morning.

Every massage place offers services for 24 hours, as per actual signs and business cards. I haven't seen one exception to this rule yet. I'm guessing that this includes the legit places, too. Whether or not they actually will give you a massage is up in the air though.

Legit massage places are typically not 24 hours. I remember one year I slept wrong on the plane flight over and had a horrible crick in my neck. Between the pain and jet lag, I could not go to sleep and I found myself desperately looking for a massage place at midnight. None of the legit places I found were open. While I was careful not to enter a place with the barber pole, I went to one where after I described where on my upper shoulder I wanted massaged, they shooed me out. They claimed that they were closed, yet they took an entire party of adjosshis that rode up in the elevator with me. I got the hint.
