Just wondering how this is done? My friend did this a couple of years ago but she said her boss just took care of everything. I want to ask my boss about it but I want to ask her once I know exactly how to go about it.

Negotiate your new term with your boss.

Take your:

new contract (with end date clearly indicated)
ARC
passport
application
fee
(copy of) the business registration
letter of guarantee (sponsorship form)

to immigration and get your extension.

Awesome, thank you. Do you know how much the fee is?

30k for the extension of status of sojourn with the same employer.

ADD 60k if you are changing employers (allowed transfer).

I'm looking to do the same thing. Can I extend for 4 months or does it have to be 3, 6, or 9? Any idea how long it takes to arrange the extension? Right now, my contract ends next January, but I want to extend until March. What's the latest I should file for the extension? I'm not POSITIVE I WANT the extension right now, so I need to know a date by which I need to make a decision.

The extension can be any length from 1 day to 1 calendar year.

It takes about 15 minutes to complete the paperwork once you get to the counter at your local immigration office.

You can file for the extension any time within the last 60 days of your contract but it must be done before your ARC expires or before contract terminates (whichever comes first).
