|
|
I'm watching his jobs presidential address to congress right now, and he said he wants to stop teachers leaving the country to go to "South Korea" to teach; he wants to create more teaching jobs, and keep them in the classroom in America.
By saying that, I'm sure 1,000's upon 1000's of people, teachers and others, had their interested piqued.
Shut up Obama, lol! We don't need you advertising during prime time television where every ear is tuned in, the market is stuffed to the brim.
As I'm typing this, he said it again. |

Sounds like it would be people who have a teaching certificate he was talking about...not just anyone with a degree in anything. . |

Maybe it was a different part from what I heard. But I thought he basically just said that South Korea is hiring teachers while the US is laying them off. |

I was thinking the same thing.
We are here on this board answering questions from Newbies all the time. We give advice and help them get jobs.
but...........
...........I don't actually LIKE newbies.
I find them annoying.
Why are we helping them?
Soon they will be displacing us in the job market.
Just by consensus we should report - DON'T COME TO KOREA IT'S THE WORST MISTAKE YOU'LL EVER MAKE. |

creeper1,
If you are interested in keeping the market from becoming more flooded than it already is, one thing you can do is combat the exaggerations/sugarcoating/lies by recruiters. Call them out on their bs.

At the very least, you could make a comment like: "This person is a recruiter. He is making a sales pitch. He gets paid $1,000 per placement. Therefore, his "truth about teaching English in South Korea" spiel is not objective. |

because we're not complete buttholes, and helping your fellow man should come naturally?
what's the problem? not confident in your own teaching skills? are you afraid that you're that easy to replace?

I actively dislike you if you are a foreigner.
My local neighbourhood has some sssttttunuuuunnnnniiinnnggg K gals and I want them all for myself.
It is possible that I have a chance in there with my "specialness" as a foreinger. Maybe say "anyong" and the K gal will think "귀여운".
Now consider another foreign guy in my area.
You are eroding my specialness just by your presence

I listened to the whole speech. He doesn't mention teaching English in Korea at all. Kenny, clean out your ears. Bogus thread.
Interesting speech though.......it's amazing how Democrats theses days spend half of their speech protesting that what they're saying is in no way like socialism. |

Both parties suck.
Rich need to be taxed up the butt... anyone making over 250,000 per year needs an extreme tax increase (see below).
Also, those recieving unemployment benefits should undergo tests for drugs (ala Florida's recent idea) and those capable should be required to perform XX hours per week of work to pay for those benefits they are receiving. The gov't SHOULD spend money to set up a program like that. They can work on public works projects, like fixing infrastructure.
Income taxes should be abolished in favor of a high sales tax. That way richer people pay more for buying more stuff. |
