I've compiled a list of Mexican joints in town - did I miss any? Which ones have you tried? And who makes the best/most authentic Mexican tacos?

Three Kings Truck in Hongdae - do these guys only operate on Saturday nights in Hongdae?

there are 2 dos tacos in hongdae now and about 10 total (i think)

taco gusto - hongdae. very small but the food is ok. needs some spice though

Taco Bell is the best for the price. If you are willing to splurge then go to Dos Tacos. Otherwise, get some frozen tortillas, ground beef, and grated cheese at Costco. You can get taco seasoning at Foreign Food Mart in Itaewon, and chop some onions, lettuce, and tomatoes for your own wonderful Tex-Mex.

Note: I have seen taco dinner kits at Foreign Food Mart and at some black market stores, but that's been hit or miss.

There's also Bella Tortilla near Sangsu Station. Pretty reasonably priced.

Of all the places I've eaten at, I'd say Tomatillo is best.

Taco Man is okay. I had the Beef Tacos. Supposed to be legit Mexican style, but I have no idea what it should taste like. They're okay. I prefer cheesey Tex-Mex myself. They also do burritos, but I haven't tried them yet. When I went, the guy said he was thinking about closing shop because business wasn't very good. Might be relocating closer to one of the bases.

Where does the 3Kings truck usually hang around? Wanna try it this weekend.

Yes Tacos Al Pastor means like shepherd style..its served from a spit and usually marinated in dried crushed chillis and vinegar .. certainly nothing like those powdered spice mixes. In my first post when i said no spice mix is added i meant the powders, not marinating ingredients.

From what I saw 90% of the taco menus in Mexico the selection is usually : Steak, Pastor, Chorizo, Tongue, Tripe and Head, Of all of these the only one with anything added to it when cooked is the Pastor.

Those powder mixes though, I have tried them in England the "Old El Paso" spice mix thing and they are not very good so I imagine that the ones in Korea are not great either.
The only other taco I had that was marinated in anything was Adobada or Barbacoa, which again taste nothing like those dried powder mixes or like Taco Bell.
The one time I had the misfortune to go to Taco Bell in LA, I would say it was similar to eating rotting dog !! Im sure the marinades are open to preference and interpretation and i suppose could add some extra flavour, but ground beef in a taco is a bit weird, as is cheese!!

Yeh good one Ken, you are also weird. If I eat tacos I want them to taste like tacos from Mexico, not a poor imitation from the USA which use ground beef, hard shell tortillas and cheese, all 3 of which were invented in the US and are in no way Mexican.

Fantastic - another Taco Bell debate. Has anyone ever claimed that Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food?
